Presenting: New Collections -- Louis Vuitton Polka Dots Navy

Today's Featurette is the Polka Dots Navy Line from Louis Vuitton's 'Show Spring 2007' Collection.

Like all the bags from Vuitton's 'Show Spring 2007' Collection, the Polka Dots NavyLine also has creased-finished brass hardware. The bags from this line utitlises linen and stonewashed monogrammed canvas with stripes and are trimmed with hand-creased grained leather for a buffed and more rugged look. Instead of colourful Polka Dots like the one we saw in the Polka Dots Fleurs line, the Polka Dots NavyLine is embellished with Black hand-riveted Polka dots. Like all the other Polka Dots Collections (Polka Dots Panema and Polka Dots Fleurs from Spring 2007), this collection is stamped with Louis Vuitton's 'Trunks and Bags' Logo.

Today's Featurette is is Louis Vuitton's Polka Dots Fleurs line from its 'Show Spring 2007' Collections.

The Polka Dot Fleurs Collection is inspired by the magic of fairy tales, combining originality and fantasy. If you've been a regular follower of this blog, you'd know that like the Monogram Dentelle and Polka Dots Panema Collections (which are also from Louis Vuitton's 'Show Spring 2007' Range), a new focus on detail for LV is the Creased-finished hardware. And for this Polka Dots Fleurs Collection, it is the decorative padlock that showcases the creashed-finished look. What sets this collection apart from the other Polka Dots Ranges (the Polka Dots Panema featured 2 days ago, and the Polka Dots Navy, which will be featured soon) is the multi coloured Polka Dots that adorn the bags from this collection (hence, 'Polka Dots Fleur' as the colours give off the impression of flowers).

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I think that this Polka Dots Fleurs Collection is wayy too embellished and way too 'busy' for my liking. There is so much going on, from the coloured buttons to the creased hardware, that the eyes and the brain (well, my brain at least) gets confused on which part it should focus on!

Bagaholic Babe still prefers the Polka Dots Panema Collection out of all the 'Show Spring 2007' Collections.

Here are Bagaholic Babe's Favourite Picks from Bottega Veneta's Spring-Summer 2007 Collection

And from the looks of it, this Spring-Summer 2007, it's all about pastel pinks and dusky purples for the brand! Well, for my top picks anyway. Hehe.




First up, we have the 'Julie' Bag. Bagaholic Babe has always loved Bottega Veneta's 'Julie' -styled bag. Ever since I saw this bag in aubergine (think Brinjal purple, my Fendi Chef Bag or yes God forbid...Barney purple). Perhaps it could be because Bagaholic Babe doesn't really like the woven look (yes, I know that it's the brand's signature style) and in the 'Julie' style, weaving is kept minimal. The other reason why I favour this bag is perhaps due to the slouchy-ness of the bag - it has just the right amount of the 'slouch' factor. More often than not, even with premier designer brands, finding a bag with just the right amount of slouch can prove to be quite a feat. Oh and this 'Julie' Bag in dusky purple also happens to be Bottega Veneta's Artistic/Creative Director's (Tomas Maier's) number one pick from this season! ;) *winks* Pre-Order this bag for $1550 from Bottega Veneta . The Floral Tote is a new look this season for Bottega. I think it's safe to say that this is a first for the brand, in terms of applique leather flowers that adorn the bag. Change is always good! For this bag, although the brand's signature woven look is maintained, the focus is on the flowers draw attention to the eye, and hence becomes the new point of focus of the bag. I suppose Louis Vuitton's embracing 'studded rivets' more punkish look and assimilating it into the brand's classic style. The reason for my saying this is due to the fact that quite a number of the bags from Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2007 Collection have a similar studded look with the quilted topstitched squares embellished with rivets and the logo plaque. If you are an LV fan, or if you have been following this blog regularly, you would know that the 'Rivets Pochette', a new addition to LV's signature Monogram Canvas line sports this same look.

Today's Featurette is from Louis Vuitton's 'Show Spring 2007' Collection: the Polka Dot Panema line.

The Polka Dot Panema line, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, is not your common LV type of bag. In fact, it doesn't look like anything LV has done thus far! So yes, change is good! ;) Especially when it looks as pretty as this!

The Polka Dots Panema line utilises Linen and Stonewashed canvas, Monogram Acetate Viscose Lining (see pic below), Canvas Trimmings and the new creased-finished hardware that we saw in yesterday's featurette, the Monogram Dentele Line. And of course, not forgetting the main detail on the bags from this Polka Dots Panema Line, the Polka Dots are stamped with Louis Vuitton's 'Trunks and Bags' Logo (see last pic for detail closeup). Other details seen across all the bags are the removable ID tag, lock and key and bell charms.

Splurge of the Week!

This week's Splurge of the Week is the Pleated Bow Clutch by Valentino. When I first saw this evening clutch, I initially thought that it was made of satin due to its 'soft' pleated look. But guess what? It isn't! It's pleated leather! I mean, this definitely speaks volumes in terms of craftsmanship. Who knew that leather (rather tough material don't you think) could be so finely pleated and 'soft' looking? It's so simple but yet so chic and elegant. Louis Vuitton has added a few new collections to its ever-expanding family. From Vuitton's 'Show Spring 2007 Collection' is the Monogram Dentelle. Todays featurette is the Monogram Dentelle line, as seen in LV's latest ad campaign for Spring-Summer 2007, featuring Scarlett Johansson. Louis Vuitton's iconic signature Monogram Print is taken to a new level..this time, with embellishments, details and embroidery. The Monogram Dentelle line was inspired by 18th-Century style lingerie lace that adorns the bag, thus creating a rather romantic look. Floral embroidery on the Monogrammed Canvas (using lurex thread) also adds to this Romantic feel. And also new to the brand this season (also seen in the other lines which will be featured in the next few days), is the hardware, which sports a creased-look finishing. Bagaholic Babe doesn't mind the creased-finished hardware, but apart from that, prefers the Monogram Canvas line without the embellishments and embroidery.

Recently, Hilary Duff was spotted with Marc Jacobs's Sweet Punk Debbie Hobo in Black. However, if you ask Bagaholic Babe, I much prefer the one in 'Bisque' (Cream) above. Yup, Bagaholic Babe isn't a fan of Black bags because although it's versatile in the sense that it goes well with everything in one's entire wardrobe, but let's just say I need my dose of colour. Well yes, I know that 'Bisque' (Cream) is less of a colour than Black, but that coupled with the Gold hardware just does me in! Newsflash -- New Artist Edition: Fafi for LeSportsac

Yet another designer collaboration for LeSportsac to add on to their ever-expanding list of Limited Editions/Artist Editions - Diane von Furstenberg, Gwen Stefani, Sara Schwartz, Tokidoki and now, French artist Fafi. Fafi creates an original print, designing a story in pictures to bring to life the tale of a girl "who was looking for the magic in her life and discovers a tree that blooms LeSportsac bags", in comic book-like illustrations. This Hummingbird Collection from Lulu Guinness's Spring/Summer 2007 Mainline Collection is a result of a designer collaboration with British Artist, Carol Lake. Carol Lake is an artist and designer whose inspiration comes from her love of nature. Her signature style is of beautifully hand-painted, realistic flowers and imagery. To Celebrate Pucci's 60th Anniversary, Pucci has created 'Collectibles consisting of a very special capsule cllection of 4 iconic pieces from the brand's archives. Originally designed in mid 1960s, each piece has been reissued exclusively for the Spring/Summer 2007 season in a limited edition series. The collection includes 2 dresseds, a romper and a purse, all of which are identical to their archival counterpoints.

This particular design recalls the shape of a jewellery box, sturdy and structured on the outside with enough room to store one's essentials. The purse features the elegant "Fiochetti" print in silk twill on its exterior and luxurious gold leather lining.

YSL Rive Gauche Bag

Could this be YSL's next 'It' Bag after the 'Muse'?



If you fell in love with YSL's 'Muse' Bag, then this one will surely set your heart on fire! This Rive Gauche Bag stays true to the brand's Luxe appeal.
