My heart literally skipped a beat when I first laid eyes upon this beautiful Jimmy Choo Suede Shoulder Bag from the new Spring/Summer 2008 Collection...especially the Magenta coloured one (shown below). Love It or Hate It? Splurge of the Week.

I know that our Splurges of the Week so far, have been very yummy-looking bags that you'd love to Splurge on, but just for this week, we're doing things rather differently. For, this week's Splurge of the Week also doubles up as a 'Love It or Hate It' post, simply because I can't decide whether I love this bag or hate it. I guess you could call it a love-hate relationship with the bag on my part? There are times when I look at this bag and think, hm, it's quite unique and that perhaps the look of the bag is growing on me. Other times, however, I look at this bag and think "Gross!". Anyway, whichever camp you belong to (ie. the 'lovers' or the 'haters'), you can look at today's post in two ways: it's either a Splurge because you love it, or it's a HUGE splurge because you think its awful and can't bear to part with such a huge sum of money on something as dare I say, 'horrifying' as this bag...

When I first laid eyes upon today's featured Splurge of the Week in the advertorial pages of Bazaar's, Sept '07 issue, it was love at first sight. Very rarely do I ever look at or fancy black bags, and those of you who know me well enough will agree with me here. This is one of those exceptional twice in a lifetime occassions. Review of new Jimmy Choo Store at KLCC

I've been so busy the past month (also why I haven't been posting daily) that it was only last week that I finally paid the new Jimmy Store at Suria KLCC a visit after the store's opening in June. The Jimmy Choo Store has taken the space of what used to be Blumarine (they shifted to the floor above). Anyway, ecstatic that I finally get to see Jimmy Choo on our very own shores, the concept and layout of the boutique kept to true Jimmy Choo fashion, but there's one major letdown - the size of the boutique and the variety (or lack, thereof)! You'd have thought that being a Malaysian himself, the Jimmy Choo store would look a little grander than the rest around Southeast Asia, but nope, no such thing! Well, yes, I understand that probably we don't have such a big market unlike Singapore or Hong Kong (love the HK store!), but at least more selections should've been brought in! *whines*. I was in and out of the store in under 5 minutes, feeling very underwhelmed...

Newsflash: Jimmy Choo Store Opening in KLCC

This Mave Leather Clutch is in an unusual shade not often seen on bags - Electric Blue! The result: Electrifying! (sorry no pun intended) With a detachable wrist strap, it's a Clutch cum Wristlet. This week, the Splurge of the Week Award goes to the Tam Mesh Tote by Jimmy Choo. (By the way, look out for our Splurge of the Week item every MONDAY!)


Yes, We all know that metallics are here to stay for 2007 as witnessed by the collections that designers have sent down the runway for their Spring/Summer 2007 collections BUT...

This time around, Jimmy Choo, known for his understated class and elegance, has outdone himself, and I don't mean that in a good way. Yes, I know that he no longer designs for the brand and has sold off all his shares but...the brand still bears his name... so yeah...With its silver-tone hardware and studded trimming, together with its silver-tone metal mesh with metallic silver leather trim, there's too much going on!!! The bag could do without the big studs I'd Say. Well yeah, with all those embellishments and details going on, perhaps they were trying to make the bag 'Value for Money'. I mean hey, after all it IS priced at a whopping US$3450 right?? WRONG!! With all the piled on details it's wayyyy too OVERDONE! And Instead of the bag having the 'Value for Money' factor, it came across (well, to Bagaholic Babe anyway) as "I wouldn't fork out $3450 for a bag that looks like this".

This is definitely one of those "Less is More incidents.

Spotlight On: Patent Bags!

'Tis the season to be Patent!

Patent, Patent, and MORE patent. Patent handbags seems to be everywhere! Patent leather, due to its high lustre, was a material that was reserved for Special Occasions' bags, Festive Season bags and Evening Bags. This trend has drastically, and is now used on day bags and casual bags like totes, shoulder bags and satchels. All the designers seem to be obsessed with Patent Leather at the moment, an abundance of which are being sent down the runway, whether it was last season or this season -- from the YSL 'Muse', Chloe's 'Betty' and Fendi's Filagree/Plexi 'B' Buckle Bag... to Jimmy Choo and even the Burberry Novacheck!! Patents are here to stay!

However, for our local Malaysian weather, Patent bags might not be a little tricky. Due to the heat, Patent bags may be caused to 'crease' and crack... and the turn-off is that you gotta keep them squeaky clean, otherwise your bag'll be covered in fingerprints!!

But they're so pretty and shiny that most of us Bag obsessed creatures are willing to be a little bit of a slave to the handbag, right? I admit that this applies to me. hehe. I don't really care about the disadvantages, especially when living in a country like Malaysia. I still LOVE patent bags! It's so glossy, how can anyone resist?
