Presenting: Prada's Spring/Summer Collection 2008 right off the runways of Milan Fashion Week
Well well well.. I have to say that I'm not at all pleased with Prada's S/S '08 Collection. Yes, I know that it's for Spring/Summer next year, and those seasons are all about colours and brights, but MUST they be put TOGETHER? Ok, if Miuccia Prada insists on putting the brights together to form one bag, at least choose complementary colours and not contrasting mismatched colours. I notice that this is a trend amongst the designers who showed their Spring/Summer 2008 Collections at Milan Fashion Week this year - Pucci, Marni (which I will be featuring these few weeks) and the rest are all doing it in similar styles!

The Verdict: Bagaholic Babe is appalled. I guess it only takes one bad apple to contaminate the rest! With Pucci, Marni, etc doing similar mismatched colours in similar styles (perhaps the only difference is they use different shapes for their geometric patterns?!). The disease has spread like wildfire! There's just now way of putting it out!! The result for Prada's mismatched colour palette with the use of stripes is a common thread that binds the whole collection together is a collection that in Bagaholic Babe's opinion has come off as rather clownish and jester-ly (yep, I'm talking about the Palace 'jokers' that entertained the Kings during Medieval times - looks exactly like their costume, methinks..)
Perhaps the only standalone pieces that I sort of like are the first 2 bags above, which look like they are a canvas for works of art..
What do YOU think?

Yummy-licious Valentino Bow Clutches |
Not too long ago I was raving about and totally in love with Valentino's Lacca Bow Shopper . Now, I'm obsessing over this Bow Clutch cum Wristlet, also by Valentino. It seems as if Valentino can do no wrong when it comes to bow details and oversized ones, at that! Or perhaps I just love anything Valentino does with bow details? Ah well, either way, I'm totally loving this Bow Clutch, esp the Striped one (see below)!
Striped Clutch
Out of all the Bow clutches (Metallic Leather, Python, Satin, Leopard - see below), I love this Striped one best. I think it exudes that 60s Mod look, which will definitely make one stand out amongst a crowd of people carrying crystallized Miniaudieres and common satin clutches, etc. Also, it reminds me of Gwen Stefani's style.
Here's how you can wear it as a wristlet if you don't wanna use it as a Clutch - a great way in which you can dance the night away and not be afraid of someone nicking your bag! Retails for $850 via Bergdorf Goodman
If ya don't like the Striped one, here's one in Metallic Silver Leather
Metallic Bow Clutch - $895 via Bergdorf Goodman
Here's one in Python
Python Bow Clutch. Pre-Order from Bergdorf Goodman. Not available in California as Python products are banned by state law.
And now in Satin...
Satin Bow Clutch - $750 via Bergdorf Goodman
And in Leopard...
Leopard-Print Haircalf Bow Clutch - $985 via Bergdorf Goodman

L.A.M.B. Manchester Foldover Clutch |
Similar in style and in design to Kate Spade's Foldover Clutches, the 'Manchester' Foldover Clutch by Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. label oozes with urban chic and edge. Like most foldover clutches, you can always open it up and carry the bag as a tote instead of a clutch.

I just love the stripes and embossed metallic gold 'L's in gothic lettering on this leather trimmed jacquard clutch. The interior also boasts a striped lining with metallic gold 'L' lettering (albeit in narrower stripes). The Black and White stripes set off a striking contrast that will surely get you noticed! Think this is a Fendi? Guess again! |
When I first saw this, I thought it was from the Fendi 'B' Range due to the buckles. However, it isn't! It's actually from Burberry's Main Label, Burberry Prorsum.
Burberry Prorsum Credit Card Case
Interior View
From Burberry's Prorsum is the Credit Card Case. Made of cotton with leather accents and trimmings with a snap-tab closure, it holds 6 credit cards and has two billfold compartments so you can actually use it as a mini wallet too, for your smaller bags. Available in Tan leather trims (shown) or Black leather trims. It's a little plain and the colour's a bit dull for Bagaholic Babe though (Bagaholic Babe loves her brights!), but if you like this, it's available at Neiman Marcus for $280.
Burberry Prorsum Continental Wallet
Also from Burberry's Prorsum Collection, is the Continental Wallet. Made of Check canvas with gold hardware and leather trimmings and accents, it's available in Tan (Shown) or Black leather trims. Much bigger than the Credit Card Case above, but costing just $15 more! If you want, you can buy both to match the other! ;) Available at Neiman Marcus for $295. I'd say this one is more value-for-money due to the size, but if you really need a credit card case, then buy that instead!

If you're looking for a fun Beach bag, this stripey tote is for you!
Katy Travel Tote
The exterior of the Katy Travel Tote is made of satin, with metallic accents and trimmings. A holdall for all your junk -- your beach mat, Yoga mat, food for a picnic at the beach, your towel, sunglasses, water, suntan lotion, sunblock. Or, if you're not a beach babe, then you can use this either for shopping or travelling.
If the beach bag is too big for your liking, then perhaps you could opt for the SUPER CUTE striped clutch or the wristlet instead! Best paired with pastel coloured clothing, the candy-coloured strips will definitely make you stand out from the crowd! Bagaholic Babe prefers the clutch though! ;)
