Striking Kate Spade Satchel

Inspite of Kate Spade being on the lower end designer brands, Bagaholic Babe has always liked a few of her designs. What caught my eye when I first laid eyes upon this Kate Spade bag, albeit through the computer screen, was its fabulous colour... a very unusual shade of midnight blue, sorta like the Prada Tessuto Gauffre blue (Spring/Summer 2007 Collection)...except this nylon Kate Spade bag is more eye-catching due to the glossy patent leather trims and accents on the bag. Kate Spade Painted Satchels

I've always had a soft spot for Kate Spade Bags, and I'm sure if none of you have heard of Kate Spade before Sex and the City, by now, you're probably familiar with this designer. Anyway, I digress. From her Spring/Summer '07 Collection, the World War 2 Painted satchel - bags that actually look like works of Art!

You might be curious as to why it's called the World War 2 Satchel. Well, the reason is that during WW2, soldiers painted their bags so that they could be easily identified. So, drawing from that influence, these painted satchels have been replicated using distressed leather and aged hardware to give the satchel a rustic, vintage and antique look and feel.

Another Poppy?

When I saw the bag, I was thinking to myself, "what in the world are these people trying to do? Are they trying to promote ... you know?" Anyway, a few things crossed my mind when I thought of 'poppy'. First, there's this really happening club downtown called Poppy that I patronise. Absolutely L-O-V-E the place! Also, there's this new movie being screened (a Hong Kong production) which I believe to be really meaningful because it shows on screen the actual situation behind the drug scene. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Also, not too long ago, Coach came up with a Poppy bag collection and now this.

I've gotta say, I quite like the black and white contrast used on the bag and the poppy motif aren't all too bad either =P Also, I like it that they've used gold-tone studs on the handle. The griffen tote is made of black canvas with white leather trims.
