Created by Marc Jacobs, the Scuba GM, MM and Clutch above is made of signature LV monogram embossed on Neoprene (that's the material used for making wetsuits for diving), therefore earning the name as 'Scuba'. The shape of the Large Scuba (GM) can be changed by unfastening the dock clip and tucking out the sides. When expanded, it will look like the Medium Scuba (MM) . All bags from the Scuba range come in 2 bright colours, neon pink and flourescent orange. Both the Large and Medium sizes may be either toted in your arm (though imho it's a tad toooo big for that) or on the shoulder. The Scuba Clutch on the other hand, also doubles as a wristlet. All you have to do is strap on the wrist strap and voila, you're good to go!

The Verdict: It's been awhile since Bagaholic Babe saw anything from Vuitton that she likes. This collection, on the other hand, she absolutely loves! And no prizes for guessing which colour I like it in.... Pink of course! Lol, though the orange and pink together (Ad campaign pic above) looks smashing! Good on ya, Marc Jacobs! I applaud these designs. I know that the designs aren't exactly new and neither are the shapes, but it's definitely novel in terms of the use and choice of material! Kudos!

Presenting: Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Collection

"Born To Be Wild" or "Out of Africa" best describes MJ's collection for S/S 09. Not only do we see LOTS of exotic prints and animal prints, but also wildly mismatched colours!! Besides that, MJ's underlying philosophies in creating this collection, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, are contrast, textures, and colours. The key shape of the season also seems to be the messenger as well as smaller-sized shoulder slung bags.


Get ready as Marc Jacobs has unleashes the Exotic kingdom unto us, often with a few of them exploding onto just a SINGLE bag!! The key detail of his collection seems to be padlocks and tassles.





I like the this one though... love the touch of red! 

Here, he adds on to his current collection of Quilted bags, are some in messenger style, with padlock and exotic (lizard) skin detailing. A new element to the quilted range would be the ones with sequin details












The Verdict: Well, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, MJ is trying to do too much with this collection! There really isn't a thread that binds the collection together as a WHOLE.

The quilted bags are more classic looking, whilst the ones with sequin details and rope straps may add a touch of glam and sparkle to your outfit.

The multi-flapped bags with contrasted textures and exotic skins with exotic skinned tassels all in one just prove to be too much for my liking! I mean, pony hair + lizard skin + python + suede + leather all in ONE bag?! It may be fine if it's in one colour, but all those details and textures PLUS contrasting colours and tassels all in ONE bag is just well, an eyesore. One really doesn't know where to look and what to focus on when you lay your eyes upon it because there is just TOO MUCH going on! However, one thing I do not doubt with all the exotic combinations is well.... the price tag, of course! Just using one type of exotic skin already costs a bomb... imagine the use of 3-4 AT ONCE..!

Marc Jacobs New Calfskin Suvi

A very unique yet pretty shoulder bag, the Sethi Stripes Suvi Bag is the new addition to the Marc Jacob collection.

Extremely soft in nature, the calfskin is the perfect choice for a chic look which accomodates loads of room in the bag as well. The bag comes with polished silver metal hardware, rolled leather handles and a flat leather shoulder strap for alternative use. The multicolored leather panel that comes down the front and back makes all the difference as it brightens up the back almost immediately. The front flap opens with the turn-lock to fine textile lining and an interior zipped pocket.

You might've noticed, at a glance, the bag is unusually long.. if compared to other shoulder bags. A roomy bag, nonetheless, with great looking folds near the handles but could it be a little difficult to reach for stuff when you need to? And also, I'm sure the bag looks great as a shoulder bag but I think it'd be even better as a messenger. What do you think? Not forgetting, I think the color (green) is different yet goes well with most outfits. How cool!

As always, we never fail to include Hermes as part of the Fashion Week spread. I'm sure you're all eager to find out what Hermes has come out with for Fall/Winter. Well, let's not wait anymore. Let's get right into it..

First up, the famous Birkin..





This season, they're using earthly tones on their Birkin.. keeping it toned down.. Then, there's the Kelly pochette in croc..





Then there's the Kelly.. reinvented into a messenger bag.. Rather impressive stuff.. Definitely loving the white one..







And other messenger bags - also in absolutely dark colors.. Really dull..






And then, there's the brighter patterned pieces that's sure to brighten up your days.. Colorful and very ethnic looking.

Splurge of the Week!

Animal prints are still very 'now', so this week's Splurge of the Week is the Zebra Messenger Bag from Roberto Cavalli's Fall/Winter 2007 Collection. Hmm. though I must say that this Matelasse Tote in Medium reminds me of Prada's Tessuto Gauffre of S/S '07. Though if I had to choose between this and the Tessuto Gauffre, the Tessuto Gauffre wins hands down! BUt mind you, I'm not a fan of the Nappa Gauffre, just the Tessuto because of the wonderful fun colours in comes in!

If it weren't for the maintenence and practicality, I'd have bought myself a white bag aeons ago! *sighs*. This St. Cocco Handbag is made of Crocodile embossed leather. Retails for $1095. A tad too large for my liking though! Maybe if I were going travelling....

First impression: reminds Bagaholic Babe of the YSL Rive Gauche Bag due to the foldover top bit. And I prefer the YSL too! This Vitello Lux Handbag comes with a side bow detail, and Like the YSL, it comes with a removable cross-body strap.

Calf Metal Messenger Bag

It ain't often that we come across messenger bags nowadays. I wonder why designers don't favour this sorta style. True, messenger bags may not be as classy and as chic (imho I don't know why the Tod's messenger bag is sold out...it looks well... to put it bluntly, quite ugly..) but designers forget that Messenger bags are really convenient and practical. It looks great with jeans and the casual look, and the best part of all, it leaves both hands free for shopping and for lugging your purchases around! I've always been a fan of the Messenger Bag, but not this one though...This Calf Metal Messenger bag comes with a pleated flap, grommet details and adjustable shoulder strap. Retails for $1445
