Love It or Hate It: Fendi Sequin and Wool Embellished Tote

This week's Love it or Hate It post features Fendi's Sequinned and Wool Embellished Tote from its Fall/Winter 2007 Collection.

I must admit that I was rather horrified when I saw this bag. I've always been and still am a total Fendi-holic, but this one is just unforgivable. The first thought that came to mind when I first laid my eyes upon it was that it looks like a hybrid between 2 types of birds - a cross between a turkey (represented by the scalloped bits in the middle) and a vulture (long woolly mop-like Afghan dog bits). Yes, those of you who regularly follow our blog might recall that I referred to one of the bags at Fendi's F/W '07 runway show at Fashion Week early this year as bearing a striking resemblance to holding a dead bird by the scruff of the neck. Well, the only difference between that one and this bag being featured today is that this one is a representation of not one but two dead birds...





However, there are some who have a very different opinion than mine. Net-a-Porter actually featured this bag in one of their Top 10 for Fall saying that it's "a statement bag with intricate, couture-like detailing. An essential for every Fendi lover." (emphasis added by Bagaholic Babe). Well I don't know if it's really couture-like detailing, but an essential for every Fendi lover?!?! *flabbergasted* Excuse me, I AM a Fendi lover but er, definitely very far from essential for me..

It's been a while since we've featured anything Gucci on our blog, so this week's Splurge of the Week features a Gucci 'Indy' Bag from this year's Fall/Winter Collection.


Large Indy Bag in Patent

Soon becoming Gucci's latest 'It' Bag since it appeared on the runway last year, (and yes that includes scores of replicas of this bag out there (-- in Malaysia, it's at Vincci too!!), this Fall/Winter sees the 'Indy' Bag being available in bronze Patent leather with the Indy trademark details - the foldover top with metal plate and tassel details. This bag is also available in Medium size, but I prefer the large because the Medium has red tassels instead. The Large size, on the other hand, featured above, comes with black tassels, thus giving the bag a touch of class and a more expensive look. Luella Anita Patent Hobo

Feel that Punk-Rock vibe with this 'Anita' Patent Hobo, from Brit Designer, Luella Bartley's Fall/Winter Collection. Made from crackled patent leather with studded details and chain link shoulder straps with bow detail, this bag definitely captures that slightly 'naughty' dominatrix-ish look (because of the Shiny Black Patent Leather), but without looking overtly kinky nor skanky. So I guess you could say it's naughty but with a touch of class. Lol. Bagaholic Babe isn't usually a fan of the Punk-Rock Chic designs, but I must say I quite fancy this bag. Perhaps the bow on the chain link strap gives the bag a slightly more innocent, a certain 'naughty but nice' feel. Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Miss Marc' Oversized Tote

For seasons past, the caricature seen on Marc by Marc Jacobs bags was the very scary looking voodoo doll-like 'Katie'. For this Fall/Winter season, the new caricature that adorns Marc by Marc Jacobs bags is the very cutesy-looking 'Miss Marc'. As this bag is from the Fall/Winter Collection, 'Miss Marc' sports a snowflake shirt. I must say that I've seen the actual bag, and the pictures below don't do the bag much justice at all because it's so much cuter than the photos foretell.






'Miss' Marc Oversized PolkaDot Tote - Interior View

Made of canvas and fastened with a magnetic snap closure, this oversized polkadotted tote has bow-detailed knotted handles that add to the bag's already cutesy look. You'll be glad to know that this bag can be worn in 3 ways! Apart from the square tote above, the sides of the bag can be folded in so that you have a more triangular sorta look that would resemble the shape of Fendi's Bag De Jour. In addition to that, this bag is also reversible. When reversed, the outer side will sport Marc by Marc Jacobs signature logo print (as above). Hm, this bag may seem like a overly huge day bag, but it looks good on the shoulder! Plus, it's great for travelling! Animal prints are still very 'now', so this week's Splurge of the Week is the Zebra Messenger Bag from Roberto Cavalli's Fall/Winter 2007 Collection. It's not often that you see a messenger bag with a belted detail, and this is why the bag looks unique! Not your average conventional messenger bag at all!

Bagaholic Babe has never been a fan of the Dior Saddle. And then came the Gaucho, which put me off even more. But this week's Splurge of the Week, the new and improved version of the Dior Saddle has finally converted me into a Saddle Bag fan!

Alice Temperley Studded Evening Bag

I am sooo in love with this Studded Evening Bag by Alice Temperley! Temperley's RTW stuff are very Romantic and Vintage-looking, so I couldn't believe that she actually came up with this jewel that looks a little edgy and Rock 'n' Roll! (Oh for those of you who aren't familiar with this designer/brand, Alice Temperley is a Brit designer). I simply adore the bright Fuschia suede and the oversized studs, I love! It's not often that you see an Evening bag this interesting. Oh yes, this is from Temperley's Fall/Winter 2007 collection. Yep, this F/W season, it's all about Bright Eye-Popping Colours!

Love It or Hate It? Splurge of the Week.

I know that our Splurges of the Week so far, have been very yummy-looking bags that you'd love to Splurge on, but just for this week, we're doing things rather differently. For, this week's Splurge of the Week also doubles up as a 'Love It or Hate It' post, simply because I can't decide whether I love this bag or hate it. I guess you could call it a love-hate relationship with the bag on my part? There are times when I look at this bag and think, hm, it's quite unique and that perhaps the look of the bag is growing on me. Other times, however, I look at this bag and think "Gross!". Anyway, whichever camp you belong to (ie. the 'lovers' or the 'haters'), you can look at today's post in two ways: it's either a Splurge because you love it, or it's a HUGE splurge because you think its awful and can't bear to part with such a huge sum of money on something as dare I say, 'horrifying' as this bag...

2 New Vuitton Goodies for Fall/Winter!

Which Fall/Winter Season is ever complete without a dose of Shearling somewhere in the collections? Well, this Fall/Winter '07, this Shearling Monogrammed Tote forms a part of Louis Vuitton's Fall/Winter Collection. In addition, Vuitton's famous Monogram Canvas Logo Print now comes in Patent this season.

Bagaholic Babe thinks that the Tote would've looked better if the Shearling trimmings were just confined to the top instead of going all round the bag.

Next up, a new addition to the Damier Collection - the 'Trevi
Bagaholic Babe has always preferred the Damier to the Monogram Canvas Print, simply because I think the dark brown handles gives the bags a classier-looking vibe. Plus, unlike the Monogram Canvas range, the handles don't turn darker orange-y shades with age and use. Anyway, back to the 'Trevi', the latest addition to the Damier Collection.



The 'Trevi' comes in 2 sizes, Small (PM) and Large (GM) - both are complete with a removable shoulder strap, as shown above. I don't know about ya'll my fellow BagAddicts, but the moment I saw this bag, it occurred to me that it resembles the 'It' Bag', the Marc Jacobs 'Stam' Bag. I guess this resemblance lies in the shape and overall structure of the bag. Afterall, since Marc Jacobs is also the Head Designer/Creative Director for the House of Vuitton, it's no surprise that both the two bags look somewhat alike.

Who says Winter has to be dreary and dull?

As we've seen during Chanel's Fall/Winter '07 Preview at their Fashion Week showing, this F/W season, Chanel has opted for bright colours such as Fuschia, Turquoise, and Lime Green (for their Classic 2.55 bags in satin) instead of the brand's usual signature and more sombre F/W hues such as Blacks, Browns, Beiges and Tweed. Love the injection of not just any type of colour, but flourescent and almost psychedelic colours! .

Not too long ago I was raving about and totally in love with Valentino's Lacca Bow Shopper . Now, I'm obsessing over this Bow Clutch cum Wristlet, also by Valentino. It ain't often that we come across messenger bags nowadays. I wonder why designers don't favour this sorta style. True, messenger bags may not be as classy and as chic (imho I don't know why the Tod's messenger bag is sold out...it looks well... to put it bluntly, quite ugly..) but designers forget that Messenger bags are really convenient and practical. It looks great with jeans and the casual look, and the best part of all, it leaves both hands free for shopping and for lugging your purchases around! I've always been a fan of the Messenger Bag, but not this one though...This Calf Metal Messenger bag comes with a pleated flap, grommet details and adjustable shoulder strap. Retails for $1445

Yes, yes, the Monogram Miroir Collection that we saw from Louis Vuitton Last Fall/Winter '06 is back! Err, much to my dismay, this Fall '07, the 'Lockit' now joins the 'Speedy' and the 'Alma' of Last Fall's Miroir Collection. I've never been a fan of the Miroir Collection. It's just too loud too 'bling-y', too plasticky and 'vinyl-y' and too 'in your face'. But the celebs and A-Listers seem to fancy it and some of us commonfolk too... Ah well, one man's meat is another man's poison. I guess the only consolation is that the 'Lockit' in Monogram Miroir is much better looking than the Speedy and the Alma. For those of you who like the Miroir then feast your eyes. It retails for $1100 Euros

Fendi Forever Sequinned Borsa

Yes, naturally, being a total Fendiholic, I just had to feature this. From the Fall/Winter 2007 Collection, this Fendi 'Forever Sequined Borsa' is in its signature Zucchiino-print fabric (small 'FF' logo) accented with clear sequins allover. I love the multicoloured metallic Orange/Pink/Blue/Gold calfskin leather trims, but I know I'd certainly prefer it if the bag came without the sequins. Well one thing's for sure, this bag will definitely 'Pop' and get you noticed during the Fall/Winter season! Available for $760 via Neiman Marcus
