Here are some of Bagaholic Babe's favourite picks from Prada's Resort 2009 Collection

Some of the key trends such as lace and ruffles from Prada's F/W 2008 collection has been carried over into the Resort 2009 Collection, as you'll notice below.


Cervo Lux Print Bowler - $2350

Lace has spilled over from F/W into Resort 2009. Choose between pink pebbled leather with black lace (shown above) or white pebbled leather with black lace. In Bagaholic Babe's opinion, the pink looks sweeter and less granny-ish. Generally not my style as it looks rather mature.



Tessuto Weave Tote - $1350

This is one of Bagaholic Babe's favourites from this Resort 2009 Collection. From the photo above, it may look woven ala Bottega Veneta, but after looking at it in the store, it is actually pleated to create a weave effect. Very interesting. If you're not a Tessuto (that's nylon, in Prada speak), you might prefer the metallic leather one below. The patent handles give the bag just the right touch of luxe. And if you're wondering where the Prada logo is, it's at the opening of the bag, facing inwards.




Vitello Mordore'A Hobo - $2490

Here's yet another woven bag, but in metallic leather this time.


Vernice One Bowler -$1360

Remember the multicoloured leather stripes from Prada's S/S 2008 collection earlier this year? Yes, those very bags that I commented on their jesterly look. We saw a few striped bags with stripes of different textures like alternating mix of patent and leather in F/W 2008, and now, it makes another appearance in the Resort 2009 Collection. This one fully patent bowler is much more classy, and no longer jesterly, imho.


Ruffled Chain-Strap Tote - $1295

The same ruffled leather look that we saw in this year's Fall/Winter collection has been carried over into next year's Resort collection. I was not a fan of the ruffled leather bowler from F/W but this is quite pleasant to the eye! Love the plastic chain-strap handles, but because of the chain straps, we can expect that it would be quite heavy.

Sporty-esque looking Bowler Bag

When Bagaholic Babe first saw this bag, the first thought that came to mind was that it resembled your good ol' preppy Argyle vests, but a much smarter and more classy version. I know the colours aren't exactly the same but somehow the colours on this quilted Bowler bag just exudes some sort of preppy sporty vibe, don't you think? This bowler is by an Italian brand called Ghibli that I haven't yet heard of, and is slightly on the more affordable end of the spectrum. The perfect item to carry with you for an evening night out, the bowler comes with a pleated body, gold-tone hardware, chain details and high heel kiss lock closure. Availale in both black and fushcia satin, the bag goes with just about anything! Looks as if gold tone hardware is still in - only now with chunky funky details..

I am always excited when it comes to browsing the net for bags because I am, most of time, surprised at my findings. More often than not, I come across something that I like - which, of course, has a lot to do with my obsession with bags.

If you're looking for a bag that'll keep you organised, this is it. The bag has so many different zippers around the bag, you can't say everything's a mess. The Spring/Summer Shows 2008 has kicked off with New York Fashion Week, aka Olympus Fashion Week! Today, we at Bagfetish Unleashed bring to you Oscar De La Renta's S/S '08 Collection

Bagaholic Babe has noticed 2 things: Firstly, that Exotics such as Snake and Croc are still very 'in', and that De La Renta is riding on the Ethnic/Tribal-inspired vibe that Dior sports in their F/W '07 Collection. I won't keep you BagAddicts in suspense any longer, so feast your eyes!

The Verdict: The collection is just passable, nothing to really rave about. The first 2 photos above (Python Ombre Tote) is something De La Renta has done before in Turquoise Python for his '07 S/S Collection, albeit in a different shape, so that isn't really new. Don't really like the Ethnic/Tribal inspired stuff, perhaps because Bagaholic Babe isn't particularly fond of this sorta look, so I guess you can call it a biased opinion on my part. But something that really threw me off is the ruffled bag with python trimmings (see last photo). What's Up with THAT?! *shrivels with disgust*
