Presenting: Louis Vuitton's 'Braided Leather' Collection from Spring/Summer 2007
Oh dear! When I first saw this 'Braided Leather' Collection on Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2007 Runway Preview last year, my jaw literally dropped. And no, not in a good way. Well for those of you who are either Asian or residing in Asia, then it probably looks somewhat familiar to you but you can't really place your finger on where you've seen something like that before right? Well, let me tell you why it looks familiar then. Look closely and you'll be reminded of the striking resemblance to the Red, White and Blue Raffia Bags from China (you know those that kinda make regular appearances on Cantonese TVB dramas and serials..)
If you don't believe me, then have a look for yourself...

Well, ok, perhaps the khaki/beige coloured one doesn't quite resemble the Chinese Raffia Bag.. but, as for the red... with the exception of Louis Vuitton's 'Trunks and Bags' Stamped logo, it looks pretty much the same don't you think? Well as for it being made of 'braided leather' as the collection is called, well...who knew... Well, I guess if these bags sell out, then the credit doesn't go to Marc Jacobs but to the brains behind the Chinese Red White and Blue raffia bags. Are we in agreement here?
Tell me what you think..

1 Fetishes Unleashed!:
I think it's absolutely brilliant. Not a lot will appreciate the humor and wit, but to me it's really precious. It looks great in real life too. In fact, a blogger who hated it when she saw the first pictures is not eating her words when she saw the real thing. It's not just well-crafted, it's Vuitton not taking itself too seriously!
