Hot off the Runway: Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2007 Collection

Here's the New Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter Collection for 2007 shown at Fashion Week.

Who'd have known just by looking at the bags that they were Marc Jacobs Creations? I certainly couldn't tell! Could you?

Fashion Prediction: as can be seen from the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2007 showing at Fashion Week, Red and Exotics (particularly in Ostrich, Alligator) seem to be getting hotter for Fall/Winter - If you haven't already noticed, MJ uses more Exotics than Leather for this collection. This goes to show that Red Definitely IS the New Black and that Exotics are the new Animal Prints!

After all the Metallic Space Age and Disco Punk Rock Chick Bags from his Spring-Summer 2007 Collection, I must say that he has Reallyyy toned down his Fall/Winter Collection. In terms of design and structure of the bags, It looks as if it's back to Old World Charm and Simplicity for Marc Jacobs. The basic shapes and structures MJ uses remind me of bags circa the Second World War Era, but with a very slight modern twist with the abstract looking closures on the bags. I was quite surprised that all his bags were devoid of his iconic and practically patented pushlock closures, which is such an integral part of any Marc Jacobs creation. Is MJ abandoning his 'house style' for a more simple, functionable bags (like the ones in this collection) after his iconic 'Stam'? Is he abandoning the younger generation for a more mature market because they have more money to spare? But with Dakota Fanning as his new muse, it's obvious that he's targeting a much younger market. So...which direction is he really heading towards? I guess that's a question that remains unanswered. After a few more collections will this be noticeable. Time will tell.
