Mulberry Ostrich Bayswater bag
Today's Splurge features the Bayswater bag in Ostrich by Mulberry. A very deep purple, this bag reminds me of the grape flavored 'Sugus' (chewy dragee candies) I used to munch on as a kid. The Bayswater comes with gold hardware, two top handles, hidden buckles on the sides for capacity adjustment, a zipped and open pouch on the inside and a padlock tag attached to it.
Extremely classy, this item now made available from Net-A-Porter for the price of $3,995.00.

Presenting: New Collections -- Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim Patchwork Collection |
Todays Featurette from Louis Vuitton's 'Show Spring 2007' Collections, is the Monogram Denim Patchwork Collection, a new range to add to LV's two existing Denim Lines, the Monogram Denim and the Denim Cruise (stamped with LV's 'Trunks and Bags' Logo).
All the bags from the Monogram Denim Patchwork Collection is made from a patchwork of 10 different denim pieces to create a supposedly modern and trendy (?) deconstructed look. Here are 2 pieces from the new Monogram Denim Patchwork Collection - The Monogram Denim Patchwork Speedy 30 and the Monogram Denim Patchwork 'Posty'

Detail closeup of Speedy 30
Louis Vuitton's iconic 'Speedy' goes deconstructed, and with an additional 2 side pockets. The Monogram Denim Patchwork 'Speedy' only comes in one colour (Grey Denim) and one size only - the Speedy 30, and retails for $1,350 Euros

The 'Posty' has a detachable wide strap, also made of Monogram Denim Canvas Patchwork, should you want the option of carrying the bag as a Messenger Bag instead of carrying it on the shoulder. The 'Posty' Retails for $1,250 Euros .
Well, I don't know about you my fellow BagAddicts, but Bagaholic Babe still stands by what she said when she featured this Monogram Denim Patchwork Collection in her Spring/Summer 2007 Fashion Week Review last year. In short, Bagaholic Babe thinks that it looks as if all the bags got lost on the way to the S/S showing and Marc Jacobs had not choice but to cut up the bags and piece it together into one bag so that LV'll have something to show on the runway.

The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2007 line has been unveiled! And I have to say that I'm VERY disappointed with you Marc (Jacobs)! As the Creative/Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton, where has your creativity disappeared to, Marc? It seems as if his creative juices have dried up. As seen above, the Spring/Summer '07 denim designs are soooooo W-R-O-N-G!!
My oh My! Marc, oh Marc, I think there seems to be a slight error in judgment this time around. It looks as if Marc was going for the 'Deconstructed' avant-garde look, but had taken it wayyyyyyy too far... Sorry Marc, what went wrong this time around? You're always spot on. But with this collection, you really hit it out of the ballpark.
In my humble opinion, this Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2007 collection looks as if all the bags got lost on the way to the runway show for Fashion Week... and because the collection was irretrievable, Marc had to cut up the existing Louis Vuitton denim range and sew the different bags together to make it into A bag so that they'd at least have something to showcase on the runway instead of nothing at all! I guess it's highly possible as all the material looks ripped( yes, i know that it's intentional but it certainly doesn't look that way though!), the placement of the push-lock closures that Marc has practically patented don't seem to serve any purpose at all! Same goes with the long leather straps attached to the bag! Oh and what's with the light and dark shades? If you were aiming for ombre, that's NOT the way to go!! And I guess you WERE aiming for that textured look... but....it really doesn't look textured at all!
Oh one more thing!!! One of the bags say LVOE on it and yes, it's a common and recurring theme seen on some bags for LV's Spring Summer '07 collection.... Well duh, it's Love, but... with this particular denim bag, it certainly ain't LOVE! It's distasteful!!!
Whatever happened to understated elegance, something that LV has always been known for??
Sorry to trash you like this. I love you and always have, but...My darling Marc, sometimes, LESS IS DEFINITELY MORE!!!
