New Prada Python Printed Nylon Tote

Bagaholic Babe is in love with this new St. Pitone tote from Prada's Spring/Summer 09 collection!! Don't let your eyes fool you though, this isn't exactly python, but python-printed nylon. I believe it's one of those rare times that the House of Prada does prints on their nylon. The result is definitely classy and chic, especially with the added leather bow detailing on both sides of the tote. As with most Prada bags, this tote comes with a removable shoulder strap. This bag is so feminine it can go with both jeans and dresses/skirts. Perfect with wedges in summer! Because this bag doesn't look all that summery, it's a classic all-year-round piece! The Verdict: Followers of our blog would already know by now that Prada is one of Bagaholic Babe's favourite brands. Bagaholic Babe is sitting on the fence with this collection. Let's start with what Bagaholic Babe dislikes about the collection. Firstly, I'm not really a fan of huge gem embellishments on my stuff, be they clothing, shoes or bags. Although there may be some exceptions, this collection doesn't really have me raving. Secondly, the oversized gem detailing on bags has been done before --> if you remember, Marc Jacobs did oversized gem encrusted bags about 2 years or so ago for his runway collection. If you can't remember this, then the ad campaigns featuring Dakota Fanning, should remind you of this.

Now, on with what I Like about this collection. I love the wristlet and the tote in fuschia! So girly, so me. =)

Presenting: Selections from Prada Resort Collection 2009

Here are some of Bagaholic Babe's favourite picks from Prada's Resort 2009 Collection

Some of the key trends such as lace and ruffles from Prada's F/W 2008 collection has been carried over into the Resort 2009 Collection, as you'll notice below.


Cervo Lux Print Bowler - $2350

Lace has spilled over from F/W into Resort 2009. Choose between pink pebbled leather with black lace (shown above) or white pebbled leather with black lace. In Bagaholic Babe's opinion, the pink looks sweeter and less granny-ish. Generally not my style as it looks rather mature.



Tessuto Weave Tote - $1350

This is one of Bagaholic Babe's favourites from this Resort 2009 Collection. From the photo above, it may look woven ala Bottega Veneta, but after looking at it in the store, it is actually pleated to create a weave effect. Very interesting. If you're not a Tessuto (that's nylon, in Prada speak), you might prefer the metallic leather one below. The patent handles give the bag just the right touch of luxe. And if you're wondering where the Prada logo is, it's at the opening of the bag, facing inwards.

Here's yet another woven bag, but in metallic leather this time.


Vernice One Bowler -$1360

Remember the multicoloured leather stripes from Prada's S/S 2008 collection earlier this year? Yes, those very bags that I commented on their jesterly look. We saw a few striped bags with stripes of different textures like alternating mix of patent and leather in F/W 2008, and now, it makes another appearance in the Resort 2009 Collection. This one fully patent bowler is much more classy, and no longer jesterly, imho.


Ruffled Chain-Strap Tote - $1295

The same ruffled leather look that we saw in this year's Fall/Winter collection has been carried over into next year's Resort collection. I was not a fan of the ruffled leather bowler from F/W but this is quite pleasant to the eye! Love the plastic chain-strap handles, but because of the chain straps, we can expect that it would be quite heavy.

New Prada Tessuto Gauffre Bow Tote

Bagaholic Babe has always been a fan of the Tessuto Gauffre range by Prada. If you're not exactly sure about what I'm talking about, it's the ruched range in nylon, that was launched in 2007, right after the nappa gauffre range. Because of its popularity, what was initially intended to be a seasonal collection has now become very much a part of Prada's classic collections that appear every season. The only difference? The colours and minor details on the bag but keeping the general ruched look of the bag. So yes, anything 'gauffre' means ruched, in Prada terms. Take a look at this beauty below.


Prada Tessuto Gauffre Bow Tote

If you're an avid Prada fan like myself, you'd notice that the theme for Prada this year (as seen in their Spring/Summer 2008 Collections) and now in their Fall/Winter Collections are rosette details or bow details on the bag. Keeping to their 'bow' detail theme, the Tessuto Gauffre Tote now comes with a small bow detail in leather, thus adding a more feminine touch to the bag, compared to other bags from their Tessuto Gauffre range that have a more casual look to it. Similarly, like all Tessuto Gauffre bags, this top handle tote comes with a detachable leather shoulder strap. A noticeable difference is the PRICE of this bag, which is much cheaper than bags from the Tessuto Gauffre range. This Bow tote is a steal at just $720! Striking Kate Spade Satchel

Inspite of Kate Spade being on the lower end designer brands, Bagaholic Babe has always liked a few of her designs. What caught my eye when I first laid eyes upon this Kate Spade bag, albeit through the computer screen, was its fabulous colour... a very unusual shade of midnight blue, sorta like the Prada Tessuto Gauffre blue (Spring/Summer 2007 Collection)...except this nylon Kate Spade bag is more eye-catching due to the glossy patent leather trims and accents on the bag. This bag also comes in White but this blue is definitely more unusual and striking, plus it looks great with jeans! ;) Get this 'Pop Clinton St - Stevie' Satchel by Kate Spade for just $325 via Nordstrom . Definitely a great steal I'd say!

A very large hot pink hobo, the Dior Ethnic bag comes in Dior's logo jacquard and smooth leather. Together with its antiqued silver metal hardware, the bag has braided leather straps and leather whipstitching woven through grommets along the seams and a logo-embossed heart and tassel with long, braided straps that dangle from the handle. Isn't that just sweet?

The Dior Ethnic Large Hobo bag has an open top that opens and closes with a magnet. It is lined with nylon and has interior zip pockets, a patch pocket and a pocket specially for your mobile. Definitely worth considering - especially when it's only going for $916.00.

Michael Kors Zebra Hobo

Being a fan of Animal Prints, I realised I've featured mostly Leopard or Cheetah Prints, but rarely the Zebra print. So here it is, the nylon Zebra Hobo from the MICHAEL Michael Kors label. I love Zebra striped prints because of the black and white creates a striking contrast that can be seen from miles away. ;) hehe. Because this MICHAEL Michael Kors Zebra Hobo is made of nylon, I was reminded of the Zebra Print range that LeSportsac came out with round about last year, if I'm not mistaken. Anyhoo, because of its size (measuring 13" x 16" x 4.5", it's considered a Large Hobo), it is to be slung on the shoulder. Oh and because it's made of Nylon, that makes it tear-resistant too! The double front pockets funks up the bag even more, and gives it an urban chic appeal. So if you're an animal print fan like moi this Hobo is available via Bloomingdales for just $198!

Prada Resort Collection for Spring/Summer 2007

Remember the ruched Prada Nappa Gauffre that was seen on celebs' such as Victoria Beckham, Madonna and Hilary Duff? (see below for photos). Many of us couldn't get our hands on them as they were waitlisted for the longest time, and along with all waitlisted bags, they came along with a hefty price tag. For Malaysians out there, the Nappa Gauffre is still avaliable in the Prada boutique at KLCC. However, they range from RM$8000+-RM$10,000+. So there's still an opportunity to grab em!



Prada Fall Winter '06 Nappa Gauffre

And for those of you who, for whatever reasons couldn't get the Nappa Gauffre from the Prada Fall Winter '06 collection featured in the photo above, you can get a more affordable version from Prada's latest Resort and Cruise Spring-Summer '07 collection. It launches in the middle of December at the Prada KLCC boutique.

It's made from Prada's signature rip-proff tessuto nylon (thus only weighing a fraction compared to that of the Nappa Gauffre from Fall/Winter '06) and comes in bright and pretty candy colours such as Fire engine Red, Midnight Blue, Canary Yellow, Tangerine, Dark Green, Fuschia and White -- all with ruched tessuto nylon. However, As can be seen from the photo above, it comes with woven leather handles and trimmings, and comes with an adjustable long strap so that one can sling it over the shoulder or wear it messenger-style. Or, if you prefer, you can tote it around on your arm. What more could one ask for?! *winks*
