Presenting: Miu Miu S/S 09 Collection

This coming Spring-Summer, Miu Miu's collection consists primarily of Exotics, particularly Python (though we still see some in leather). Miu Miu, a brand that is known for its usually roomy bags (think Matelasse, Coffer, and all the rest) has turned that philosopphy around, as this season, we see bags which are much smaller in sizes, those of which can be slung in your arm and not on your shoulder. In other words, arm candy. We also see much simpler shapes this season, like the bowler and boston bag.







This bag below, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, looks like it can be worn as a bra, if flipped the other side up... Lol... That was basically the first thing that came to mind when I saw this particular bag..... BUT I love the contrasting Red python border against the white though! It just pops!

Goodness gracious! I couldn't believe what's I found on the 'New Arrival' section at Saks.

Yeah.. you're right! It's the Miu Miu Nappa Satchel with Patch Petals. Extremely unbelievable, the bag comes is a (so they say..) "ladylike top-handled style that looks totally modern with petal accents of soft leather". Honestly, if those were petals then they must've come off a dying tree. The shapes, I know, are supposed to be petals but do petals really look like that? Don't know if you agree but the bag is outrageous and definitely isn't lady-like. It's a no brainer and I'm really surprised they can put such a item as this up for sale! I wonder who'll in their right mind wanna own this?!!

Anyway, I might be wrong. But there's definitely no in between. It's a love it or hate it kinda thing. Drop us a comment and let us know what you think about today's find!

The candy colored clutches definitely topped it off at their recent runway show. This time round, Miu Miu plays on the vintage purses of yesteryear with its elegant gold frame that beautifully contrasts its soft leather and rich hue.

From Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2008 Collection, is this small shoulder bag by Miu Miu. Small size it may be, but it's incredibly cute! This buttery soft shoulder bag is THE ultimate slouchy shoulder bag. Available in 3 colours - Turquiose (shown), Fuschia and Metallic Gold, this Miu Miu bag comes with a lock (at the front clasp) and an attached key so that you can keep your valuables safe while toting this super girly bag around. Bagaholic Babe absolutely adores this bag in Fuschia and Turquoise. Available via Net-a-Porter for just £369.79, it's definitely a small price to pay for this Miu Miu beauty.

This Matelasse tote is in my opinion, a variant of the Coffer Bag, with a slightly more ruched look to it. You can wear this bag messenger-style as it comes with a removable cross-body strap. And here's the Matelasse Tote in Medium Size. Also comes with a removable cross-body strap and key pouch, it's available in Green and Black. This is Bagaholic Babe's fave piece from the brand's Fall Collection. ;) Retails for $1,150.
Hmm. though I must say that this Matelasse Tote in Medium reminds me of Prada's Tessuto Gauffre of S/S '07. Though if I had to choose between this and the Tessuto Gauffre, the Tessuto Gauffre wins hands down! BUt mind you, I'm not a fan of the Nappa Gauffre, just the Tessuto because of the wonderful fun colours in comes in!

Hmm, somehow things in white look a whole lot classier, especially with gold hardware! Sigh, why oh why must a white bag be so hard to maintain?! If it weren't for the maintenence and practicality, I'd have bought myself a white bag aeons ago! *sighs*. This St. Cocco Handbag is made of Crocodile embossed leather. Retails for $1095. A tad too large for my liking though! Maybe if I were going travelling....

First impression: reminds Bagaholic Babe of the YSL Rive Gauche Bag due to the foldover top bit. And I prefer the YSL too! This Vitello Lux Handbag comes with a side bow detail, and Like the YSL, it comes with a removable cross-body strap.

Calf Metal Messenger Bag

It ain't often that we come across messenger bags nowadays. I wonder why designers don't favour this sorta style. True, messenger bags may not be as classy and as chic (imho I don't know why the Tod's messenger bag is sold out...it looks well... to put it bluntly, quite ugly..) but designers forget that Messenger bags are really convenient and practical. It looks great with jeans and the casual look, and the best part of all, it leaves both hands free for shopping and for lugging your purchases around! I've always been a fan of the Messenger Bag, but not this one though...This Calf Metal Messenger bag comes with a pleated flap, grommet details and adjustable shoulder strap. Retails for $1445

Spotted: Reese Witherspoon with Miu Miu Coffer Bag

On a day out shopping in Los Angeles with her daughter, Ava, Reese Witherspoon was spotted with Miu Miu's Coffer Bag in Cream. Because the Coffer Bag seems to be a hot favourite with Hollywood A-Listers and those in the celebrity circuit, this Miu Miu number seems to have reached 'It' Bag status. Other A-Listers who have been spotted with the 'Coffer' include Lindsay Lohan, the new face of the Miu Miu's 2007 Ad Campaign.

The Rise of Logo Canvas Totes

Well, well, well...I've been browsing for bags as usual, for this is what I do, and this is what this blog is about...and I noticed a particular trend in this season's bags. For some reason or other, the Spring/Summer Collections this year are laden with Logo Totes in Canvas..and when I say logo totes, I mean that the logo is of a very noticeable and obvious size, stamped smack in the middle of the Tote, on display for all and sundry for the whole world to see. Well, I call this the kiasueffect. Perhaps it's a race amongst the designers to see who has the biggest logo stamped on the front?

Newsflash: Lindsay Lohan for Miu Miu Ad Campaign Photos

Here are the Ad Campaigns for Miu Miu featuring Lindsay Lohan. I couldn't even recognise her! Who would've thought LiLo could look so refined, like a porcelain doll?? Her makeup and her total look here reminds Bagaholic Babe of the Anna Sui girls on the runway and on Anna Sui's 'Dolly' Range of Cosmetics. Take a look and see what I mean...

What's up with Miu Miu anyway? It's just horrible to see so much ugly stuff on display! Take a look..

First up, we have the Nappa Leather Patchwork Tote that has double handles and ruching at the top. I don't know really. The first time I saw it, I thought it looked like those wooden chalets I stay in when I go on a beach holiday. I think the color had to play in it. It's horrible.

Secondly, we have the Oversized Tote - also in Nappa Leather - except that it's without the patchwork. Thank God it doesn't have the patchwork. Seriously, I think patchwork is not their department. Unfortunately, the color is SO WRONG and doesn't the ruching at the top remind you of those elastic hairbands you use when you want to keep your hair up when you're washing your face? Goodness gracious!

Well, this one's a lil different. It's made of soft patent leather (I love patent leather but this one's SO WRONG). Would you agree if I said it looked quite like the Squichy from LV? If you've not seen the Squichy, take a look at it here. Anyway, back to the Miu Eww bag. It's a soft patent leather frame bag with HUGE, i repeat, HUGE braided handles which makes the bag disproportionate - at least I think so - no, I take that back.. I know so!

See what I mean? I wonder who buys stuff like this. They're all between $700 but less than $1,000 per piece! However, I'll do their brand justice and recommend one of their bags which I'd lug around..
