The Verdict: Pink seems to be the colour of the season for Chanel, With the iconic 2.55s in all shades of pale pink. I must say that Chanel has quite inventively used transparent plastic prototype thingymajigs featuring all their accessories - lipstick, sunglasses, iPod, etc. Quite an inventive way to showcase all your products, and never seen before on the runways ever. It's a very clever gimmick indeed. Possibly those plastic things are come in handy letting one know that all the contents featured (Chanel only of course!) can all fit into the small 2.55.
Also, I've noticed the studded structured backpacks on 2 models. They look kinda a smaller version of old-school backpacks. Is Lagerfeld trying to revive the backpack? Can it possibly make a comeback? Hmmm...

Splurge of the Week! |
It goes without saying that every Chanel bag qualifies as a splurge, and this week's Splurge of the Week is no exception.
We present to you the pink quilted jersey 2.55 by Chanel as this week's splurge. With the mademoiselle turnlock closure (that's the square turnlock clasp in Chanel terms), quilted and made to look as if it is in crocodile skin from afar, this jersey 2.55 is in such a bright and fun colour! It's perfect for those who always wanted a Chanel 2.55 but think that the Classic 2.55 in lambskin looks too mature, then this is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on one! The pink gives the 2.55 a much more vibrant and youthful vibe. Like it, it retails for $3,450, but you can get it at a discounted price (yes, you're eyes aren't deceiving you!) at $2760 via Bluefly . A certificate of authenticity is included.
I know that for jersey it's still a splurge, but hey, at least you get it at 20% off right? ;) *wink*

Best Spring 2009 Accessories from Paris |
As always, at the end of every round of Fashion Week, we share with our viewest the best picks for the season. And we're glad to present with you the best selections for Spring 2009 from Paris.
The Space-Age WristletBalenciaga
Metallic crocodile wristlet with chain strap
Looks more suited for the winter season rather than the summer, don't you think? It gives me the icy feeling somehow.
The Logo Bag
Leather tote bag
Nothing I'd wanna own. It's makes me feel as if I'm a free walking advertisement for Chanel rather than being a fashion statement. That's SOOOO totally uncool!
The Western Bag
Suede top-handle tote with fringe detail
Nice. Kinda reminds me of the Babouska Gucci made a while back. Don't think this bag'll work for me though. Top handles on the flap makes stuff hard to reach for (if you know what I mean)
The Slouchy Tribal Bag
Leather monogram bag with cord and bead detail
What can I say about the slouchy tribal bag, you ask? Just THREE words! Yucks, yucks, yucks!
The Price-Conscious Shopper
Nylon tote bag with bead detail
So they've named it the 'Price-Conscious Shopper'. So they're saying it doesn't have a huge price tag to this? Really? Although it's really colorful but somehow it looks kinda dull, don't you think? Colorful yet dull? How odd!
The Patchwork Shoulder Bag
Exotic patchwork shoulder bag with metal hardware
This one's simply fantastic. Love how they've made a patchwork bag out of what looks like python and lizard in few but bright colors! Not to mention, it looks very art deco as well :)
The Chain-Mail Wristlet
Leather wristlet with chain strap
Last but not least, something that looks very cool. So simple yet so fun! Think it'll go with just about anything, don't you agree? :)

Chanel S/S '09 |
Readers,
Be surprised at what you're gonna find in Chanel boutiques this coming Spring. Be very surprised because I'm pretty it'll shock you.
The theme this Spring was inspired by a grayish portrait by Marie Laurencin, who painted Coco Chanel in the twenties. The show started with pretty nice 2.55 bags in tweed. Looking for elegant than ever are the models strutting down the runway with such beautiful pieces. Am loving the white and grey piece, by the way ;)

But then, look at what cane down the runway after..

Definitely not very wise turning the 2.55 and carrying it lengthwise. How does the bag even function that way.. Ewww! I'm a HUGE fan of Chanel's! Yet, I've to say it was a bad bad idea. Love the white leather 2.55. Simply gorgeous! But turning it around and carrying it this way? Karl Lagerfeld must've run out of ideas somehow!
By now, you must've guessed that the collection is very much black and white. Great choice but look at what other disasters they made!!
They can't have believed that they'd fool us to think those are pretty. Whether it's made of leather or plastic, they can't fool us into believing carrying THESE are arm candies! I suppose they were thinking.. 'Since our customers can't come into the store daily to buy something, let's make them look and feel great carrying our bags around daily'. Not to mention, Karl's not very imaginative this season..

What an eyesore!
Thankfully, towards the end of the collection, it got better! It's nothing to shout about really but at least.. It's FAR improved than what we just saw. Don't you agree?

The bag styles tend to be repeated - just like the ones above. The only difference is in the switching of colors. A no brainer!
Anyway, I'm counting my blessings cause it ended well. If it didn't, I'd stop paying attention to what they're coming up with in the future.
Thankfully, their evening wear was accompanied by beautiful clutches with detailing that left the viewer wanting more.

The collection is overall a very horrific experience. Definitely, Karl'll need to work on what's good and what's not!

Presenting: Chanel's Cruise Collection 2009
For the Cruise Collection 2009, the theme seems to be stripes and different shades of blue, as observed from their Pret-a-Porter (or Ready to Wear collection). The showing for this Cruise Collection took place at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami, Florida, on a beautiful and unusually shaped runway right in the middle of the pool, symbolising the 'water' element that was evidently an inspiration in the RTW collection's shades of blue.

Patent Heart Logo Bag
Chanel Canvas 2.55 with Stripes
(Sorry for the lack of images, as these were the only ones of bags that I was able to find that featured bags).
Well, I can't really comment much on this collection as far as the bags go, but based on these 2 pictures here's what I think...
The Verdict: Chanel Cruise Collections are usually vibrant and artsy with bold prints. In short, they are bags with their own personality. This time around however, it looks a tad boring unlike the Chanel Cruise Collections that I'm used to seeing. The first bag looks a little Moschino-esque and dare I say, cheap looking. The striped 2.55, well, let's just say I've seen better. Unfortunately, judging from the 2 bags above, this collection is a let-down.

Chanel F/W '08 |
On Chanel this coming season, expect to see giant quilted bags, camellias, pearls, boaters, and bows including these beauties..

Extremely stylish yet futuristic clutches that looks great every angle you carry it. It's a pity though we can't see the other bag pictures on Style.com. Anyhow, if you'd like to see what's hot this coming season, check it out here

A Very Pretty Chanel Bag |
Chanel 2.55 Satin Flap Bag
As you may have already noticed from the picture above, the bag shown is none other than the Chanel 2.55. I always feel excited about publishing a post on the 2.55 - especially when they are cute and fun. Afterall, I'm sure you Bagfetish readers will get just excited about what Chanel has come up with again with its very own icon bag.
Almost all Chanel 2.55 bags come quilted (an inspiration drawn from jackets worn by jockeys) during the 1950 days. Although similar in style, yet, each new piece looks different - just like the one you see above. If you're an avid fan of Chanel accessories, well, this is it!
Made from satin, the bag comes with a chain strap, a silver 'double C' twist lock closure and a cute white bow! Goes well with both day and night wear, it's definitely one of the items on my Wish List.

Presenting: Chanel's New Ankle Bag, Hot off the Runway!! |

Hot off the runway, is this new fad, the Ankle Bag! Seen on Chanel's the Spring/Summer 2008 runway at Fashion Week recently, this ankle bag is a novelty indeed! I've never seen any designer do an ankle bag before. The trend is quickly spreading like wildfire in the Celebrity circuit. Rumour has it that ankle bags was a trend fueled by celebs on House Arrest, who used this sort of ankle bag to hide their House Arrest detector thing-a-ma-jig. Very clever indeed, don't you think?
However, Bagaholic Babe isn't a fan of it though.
Do you think that this trend will catch on? Tell us what YOU think!!

Presenting: Fashion Week: Chanel S/S '08 |
Presenting: Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Spring/Summer Collection 2008
From sequin-embellished bags to hard case Evening clutches in the shape of gemstones with crystal embellishments and details, the theme "Shiny, Shiny, Shiny!!" in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, is suitable for Chanel's S/S '08 Collection.

Whilst other designers seem to be using a bright, bold and striking colour palette for their S/S '08 collections (Fendi, Marni, Christian Lacroix, etc), Chanel seems to have opted for a more monochromatic colour scheme. Perhaps it was due to Chanel's uncharacteristic use of bright colours for their Fall/Winter 2007 Collection which resulted in this seeming reversal of seasons? It's befitting to say (in Bagaholic Babe's opinion), that Chanel's S/S '08 Collection is more suited to the F/W '07 and vice versa. Makes the brand's F/W '07 Collection seem more fun. Hm, what do YOU think?
The Verdict: Chanel has always been associated with timelessness and elegance. That may be so, but come Spring/Summer 2008, this monochromatic collection will be lost amidst the sea of flourescent colours that the other uber-designers have opted for. C'mon it's Spring! Let's welcome sunshine, rainbows and yes, that means and injection of colour!
*Bagaholic Babe loves the last 2 bags with the bow motif! Gorgeous!!

Chanel Luggage Tags |
Who says Winter has to be dreary and dull?
As we've seen during Chanel's Fall/Winter '07 Preview at their Fashion Week showing, this F/W season, Chanel has opted for bright colours such as Fuschia, Turquoise, and Lime Green (for their Classic 2.55 bags in satin) instead of the brand's usual signature and more sombre F/W hues such as Blacks, Browns, Beiges and Tweed. Love the injection of not just any type of colour, but flourescent and almost psychedelic colours! .
Since we've already seen that as brought to you, our loyal readers, during our Fashion Week Extravaganza a few months back, we now bring you Chanel Luggage Tags in leather. Love the bow details on the luggage tags, don't you? *winks*
