Presenting: Chanel F/W 09

The Verdict: Pink seems to be the colour of the season for Chanel, With the iconic 2.55s in all shades of pale pink. I must say that Chanel has quite inventively used transparent plastic prototype thingymajigs featuring all their accessories - lipstick, sunglasses, iPod, etc. Quite an inventive way to showcase all your products, and never seen before on the runways ever. It's a very clever gimmick indeed. Possibly those plastic things are come in handy letting one know that all the contents featured (Chanel only of course!) can all fit into the small 2.55.

Also, I've noticed the studded structured backpacks on 2 models. They look kinda a smaller version of old-school backpacks. Is Lagerfeld trying to revive the backpack? Can it possibly make a comeback? Hmmm...

Presenting: Dior F/W 09

The Verdict: This season, although we see some blacks in Dior's F/W collection, it is an otherwise brightly coloured collection, thus standing out amongst all the uber designers who have seemed to have adopted a much more sombre colour palette. We see the iconic Lady Dior in dark purple and red lambskin for day, whilst the pleated evening clutches and wristlets seem to dazzle in jewel-toned satin with beaded, rhinestone and crystal motifs. The evening collection definitely exudes courtly and palatial grandeur, and can, imho, be certainly dubbed as the new chatelaine of the 21st century!

Bagaholic Babe has always been a fan of jewel tones especially in the gloomy F/W season. Yes, if you don't already know by now, I'm definitely a person who loves colour! ;)

Presenting: Fendi F/W 09

The Verdict : Judging from the pics above, Fendi's F/W 09 collection seems to be like 2 distinct separate collections: One is the spillover from last season albeit in slightly smaller sizes this season, in all shades of grey and black (and some metallics); the other a new mod architectural-esque like contrasting colour block clutches (with a shoulder strap that can be tucked into the bag) with turnlock closure and black topstitchingin a much brighter colour palette compared to the greys and blacks. Oh and of course, just like Valentino's signature red dress in every collection, no Fendi F/W collection is complete without fur, hence the odd fur bag that doesn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the collection...

Bagaholic Babe is loving the new clutches! It's good to be bright during the Fall/Winter season amongst a sea of blacks, greys and the usual F/W colours. Plus, it'll definitely liven up your F/W outfits, headgear, coats and boots! To make the colour block clutches work, dress up in an entirely black outfit to draw attention to your fab new colourful clutch of the season!

I've always been a fan of Chloe bags as the brand's designs never fail to disappoint, or perhaps cos' they're just so me!. This season, the 'Paraty' (below) is the new addition to the line of Chloe's ever-expanding icons. Today's Splurge of the Week is the Python version of the Paraty...

You might recognise this bag from one of Chloe's Spring/Summer 2009 ad campaigns (shown above). As we all know, some bags that we see in stores are not sold online. I was searching high and low for this bag so that I can share it with all you BagAddicts out there. Alas, I finally managed to locate this Python leather version. The lambskin versions are imho, a tad boring. This version, on the other hand, is so chic and stylish, perhaps due to the embossed python leather that gives the bag added texture and an edgy appeal. It's black so you can wear it with practically anything! Plus, like most bags out there nowadays, it comes with a detachable shoulder strap for carrying on the shoulder.

I'm a firm believer in having only ONE black bag that you can wear to death, so at £1,873.83 / $3820, it's definitely worth the investment! Get this via Net-a-Porter or Saks today!

Prada F/W '09

Miuccia Prada never fails to "wow" its audience at every opportunity. Just last Spring, she drew her inspiration from the late 60s, early 70s era with artsy pieces. And just before that, in Fall '08, it was handmade lace. Every season is unique and fresh and this Fall is no different.

During an interview with Style.com early this month, Miuccia admitted she couldn't quite identify a central theme for the incoming Fall collection except that it would lean towards the nature and the outdoors rather than its usual focus on the city.

Totes and shoulder bags are a hit with the designers, as always.. as with gold hardware. This coming Fall, expect to find mostly triangular-shaped pieces in leather or fur. But of course, no collection is considered complete without the occasional sequins which have been part of most collections for many years now.

A tad bit boring on the whole with lots of plain, business-like shoulder bags which attracts the working crowd. A "feminine empowerment", as Miuccia calls it. And of course, no Fall collection is complete without some fur here and there. However, I'd term the collection as predictable. She could've really done better with the design for the clutches. Walk in to any bag shop today and tell me you don't see any fur clutches. They've been around forever and they look like what's been just introduced in the Fall '09 collection. But I must say, I give her the credit for putting together such a collection. Anything, at this stage, is better than what's been seen on Gucci.

Finding something I really like, at this stage, is like finding a needle in the haystack. But I'm glad to say I found something in the Fall '09 collection I might really like. See the bright pink clutch with sequins? That's the one.

Oh yah, did I mention I noticed some studs in the collection which was probably a spillover from last season's craze?

Marc Jacobs F/W '09

NY Fashion Week is not quite over without Marc Jacob's collection. I'm sure you've been waiting for their Fall '09 collection for a while now.

Presenting to you the new Marc Jacobs Fall '09 collection.. A collection with many spillovers from the previous seasons. One of many is the spillover from the Sprouse for LV Spring/Summer '08 Day Glo collection. Neon-hued, together with its floral pattern, the new collection is said to reflect the good old days in New York where he used to spend his night outs in clubs.

The new Fall collection is made up of mostly shoulder bags and totes with the use of a mix and match of colors and designs to re-create what has been seen in the previous MJ collections. Chain-link shoulder straps are still a hit with the designers. So is the gold hardware spotted on plaques and most zippers.

You'll find the collection contains a lot of materials - from leather to patent to satin. I think the toned down satin foldovers look great and looks exceptionally pretty with a dress. Definitely my pick for the season.

Gucci F/W '09

Just last week, at Milan Fashion Week, Gucci's back with a new collection for Fall. Unlike the bright colors we saw from the tattoo collection we saw from Spring, the Fall '09 collection is made up of only greys and blacks - which is quite the opposite, really. According to Style.com's Sarah Mower, Giannini's Fall '09 collection is aimed at nightclubbing girls who might be tempted by a glittery upgrade all urban teenagers are spotting this year. Although the color selection is minimal, there is a great selection of skins to choose from this Fall. Scroll down to take a look!

Not a very interesting collection I must say. No colors, not much variety and no monogram. If we didn't know better, I'd believe it if someone told me the collection reflected the bleak economic environment we have today.

Marc by Marc Jacobs is back again with something for the twenty somethings. This time we spot models dressed like mountaineers with furry boots, carrying the new arm candies you'll see in stores near you very soon.

This coming Fall, be prepared to find large and small zip top totes. The Marc collection is simple and elegant. Gold hardware is still an "in" thing among the designers. Although simple, you'll find a variety of colors to choose from - blues, reds, whites, blacks, you name it. Besides the usual grained and smooth leather, you'll be surprised corduroy is in as well!

An overall simple collection that's easy to match your clothes. After having looked at the entire collection, I must say the bags go well with just about anything! A versatile collection on the whole. Although some early twenties might find the bag adds age to a person like how taking pictures add pounds.

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Locket Pocket - Big Collapsible Tote'

The Locket Pocket canvas tote caught my eye the other day even as I was browsing the net. The bright colors caught my eye at a first glance and if you look at it more, the white patches somehow look like clouds, don't you think?

I suppose, when I look at a bag, I not only taking into account the uniqueness of the bag (I'll come back to this in a sec) but also the durability and usefulness. Afterall, I'm not about to splurge on something I'll never use. But I'll have you know firsthand that this beauty is fairly priced.

This large Zucca baguette is a combination of extra-large signature FF zucca with its classic zucca print, with an adjustable chain link shoulder strap with leather piece that rests comfortably on your shoulder. The Verdict: At first glance, I thought this was a rather mature-looking bag and dismissed it. Louis Vuitton Monogram Roses Speedy 30

Check out the new limited edition speedy inspired by the late American artist Stephen Spourse - who also colloborated with Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton to create the Monogram Graffiti.

The new Monogram Roses (as the name suggests) is a flourescent rose pattern screen printed onto the canvas through 15 frames to create an essence of Sprouse's style of brush painting on the canvas Speedy 30. The trim is made of natural cowhide and comes with round leather handles with link attachments and golden brass hardware. As with other Speedy bags, the new Monogram Roses Speedy 30 has a zip top closure with padlock and pink striped textile lining with an interior flat pocket.

This medium 'Guccioli' tote with signature beige/brown monogram with off-white patent leather trims comes with a detachable heart tag charm with leather bow detail. Bagaholic Babe never used to be a Gucci fan, but with the dogs on the bags, I'm starting to like these designs! We saw first saw a dog on Gucci bags - chihuahua in a Santa suit, complete with a Santa hat (Limited Edition) from the Christmas collection - and now a Pug from their Cruise 2009 Collection. Will Gucci start a whole collection of doggie bags? If so, I'm definitely a fan!

It's been awhile since we've posted something from Valentino. So, as today's Splurge, we're featuring the new Noeud Tote.

Upon first glance, this bag seems to be made of nylon, but looks can be deceiving because this "Noeud" tote is actually made of buttery-soft nappa leather. Plus, it's a no-brainer that Valentino doesn't do bags in nylon. As proof of its suppleness, only the softest and most supple leather can be turned into a layered or tiered effect with a stitched bow detailing. As with most bags these days, this Noeud Tote comes with a detachable shoulder strap so that you have the option of carrying it on the shoulder or cross-body style. Get this bag for $3,495 via Saks

Created by Marc Jacobs, the Scuba GM, MM and Clutch above is made of signature LV monogram embossed on Neoprene (that's the material used for making wetsuits for diving), therefore earning the name as 'Scuba'. The shape of the Large Scuba (GM) can be changed by unfastening the dock clip and tucking out the sides. When expanded, it will look like the Medium Scuba (MM) . All bags from the Scuba range come in 2 bright colours, neon pink and flourescent orange. Both the Large and Medium sizes may be either toted in your arm (though imho it's a tad toooo big for that) or on the shoulder. The Scuba Clutch on the other hand, also doubles as a wristlet. All you have to do is strap on the wrist strap and voila, you're good to go!

The Verdict: It's been awhile since Bagaholic Babe saw anything from Vuitton that she likes. This collection, on the other hand, she absolutely loves! And no prizes for guessing which colour I like it in.... Pink of course! Lol, though the orange and pink together (Ad campaign pic above) looks smashing! Good on ya, Marc Jacobs! I applaud these designs. I know that the designs aren't exactly new and neither are the shapes, but it's definitely novel in terms of the use and choice of material! Kudos!

After the much sought-after Muse bag, the House of YSL launched the Muse Two earlier this year. I have never been much of a Muse Two fan, preferring the original Muse instead, as the Muse Two has a more mature and structured look that is similar to that of the Birkin. However, that thought went straight out the window when I saw the Muse Two below.

The rich hues of aubergine and maroon ombre paired with the midnight blue on the flap and trims add an even more super-luxe feel to the already luxurious Muse Two in croc-embossed suede. In suede it may be, but Bagaholic Babe still thinks that this bag is a bargain at $1,995 for a YSL piece. The Verdict: Followers of our blog would already know by now that Prada is one of Bagaholic Babe's favourite brands. Bagaholic Babe is sitting on the fence with this collection. Let's start with what Bagaholic Babe dislikes about the collection. Firstly, I'm not really a fan of huge gem embellishments on my stuff, be they clothing, shoes or bags. Although there may be some exceptions, this collection doesn't really have me raving. Secondly, the oversized gem detailing on bags has been done before --> if you remember, Marc Jacobs did oversized gem encrusted bags about 2 years or so ago for his runway collection. If you can't remember this, then the ad campaigns featuring Dakota Fanning, should remind you of this.

Now, on with what I Like about this collection. I love the wristlet and the tote in fuschia! So girly, so me. =)

Lanvin takes elegance to new heights

Lanvin bags usually have that structured and boxy look. This bag, however, is the total opposite. Made of silk satin, with a chain and ribbon shoulder strap, this bag can definitely take you from a day to evening look. I actually saw this very bag in the store myself, and I must say that the picture doesn't really do the bag justice at all. Also, you might think that the chain straps might be a bit heavy on the shoulder. On the contrary, it really isn't as I actually had the opportunity to try this bag on at the store. Our weekly Splurge of the Week Mondays was put on hold when we showcased Fashion Week S/S 2009 Collections. Now that we're done with that, Splurge of the Week is back!

We all know that towards the end of the year, your social calendars will be filled with parties, especially around Christmas and New Years. This Week's Splurge is perfect for that occasion, as it not only shimmers but also has that wintery feel and vibe to it! With that, What a better way to shine and bling up your outfit than with this Judith Leiber "Humble the Penguin" Emperor penguin miniaudiere?

As with all Leiber creations, you can either hold this in your hand or strap it on your shoulder so that you can dance the night away and not worry about having to hold or lose your cute bag! I just love Leiber miniaudieres, so fun and quirky, and definitely a bag for one with personality! If you're one who's looking for a conversation piece, Leiber never fails to deliver! I must admit, that Leiber miniaudieres are addictive, and once you own one, you keep wanting another and before you know it, you have an entire collection of Leiber pieces! ;)

Here are some of Bagaholic Babe's favourite picks from Prada's Resort 2009 Collection

Some of the key trends such as lace and ruffles from Prada's F/W 2008 collection has been carried over into the Resort 2009 Collection, as you'll notice below.

Cervo Lux Print Bowler - $2350

Lace has spilled over from F/W into Resort 2009. Choose between pink pebbled leather with black lace (shown above) or white pebbled leather with black lace. In Bagaholic Babe's opinion, the pink looks sweeter and less granny-ish. Generally not my style as it looks rather mature.

Tessuto Weave Tote - $1350

This is one of Bagaholic Babe's favourites from this Resort 2009 Collection. From the photo above, it may look woven ala Bottega Veneta, but after looking at it in the store, it is actually pleated to create a weave effect. Very interesting. If you're not a Tessuto (that's nylon, in Prada speak), you might prefer the metallic leather one below. The patent handles give the bag just the right touch of luxe. And if you're wondering where the Prada logo is, it's at the opening of the bag, facing inwards.

Vitello Mordore'A Hobo - $2490

Here's yet another woven bag, but in metallic leather this time.

Vernice One Bowler -$1360

Remember the multicoloured leather stripes from Prada's S/S 2008 collection earlier this year? Yes, those very bags that I commented on their jesterly look. We saw a few striped bags with stripes of different textures like alternating mix of patent and leather in F/W 2008, and now, it makes another appearance in the Resort 2009 Collection. This one fully patent bowler is much more classy, and no longer jesterly, imho.

Ruffled Chain-Strap Tote - $1295

The same ruffled leather look that we saw in this year's Fall/Winter collection has been carried over into next year's Resort collection. I was not a fan of the ruffled leather bowler from F/W but this is quite pleasant to the eye! Love the plastic chain-strap handles, but because of the chain straps, we can expect that it would be quite heavy.

Gucci S/S '09

After having seen most of the collections, I can safely say bright color sling bags are the in thing this season. Entitled "Gucci Exotica", Frida Giannini has created a fantastic collection where the exotic meets streetwear yet maintaining a luxurious look throughout the entire performance. Packed with lots of color and platforms, you'll find the designs vibrant yet not over the top. Not forgetting, the items come with tassels too - take for example the up-sized slouchier, hand-stitched "New Jackie".

You know, it's been such a long time since I've seen the daylights of backpacks on the runway. The last I had one was when I was still in school. I must say, the way Frida has done the utilitarian backpack.. has really done an impression on me. Not to mention.. I absolutely love the colors!

And the python.. absolutely amazing. Rugged yet so luxurious! And look at how the show ended? Does the bag below look familliar? Looks what what we posted on yesterday on Pucci right? Gosh.. how did they come up with something so.. alike? Hmmm.. nonetheless, I love it ;)

Emilio Pucci S/S '09

Yet again another wonderful collection out of a long string of collections we're gonna look at from other designers very soon. Rather than the usual separated Spring/Summer collection and Resort/Cruise collection, looks like Pucci has combined both of it to give you this...

It's really no wonder why they'd put together such a collection since the island was the birthplace of the house of Pucci some 40 years ago, although, the founder himself, Emilio, might not recognise the collection to be a descendant of his own.

Signature graphic and swirling prints, like the one above and the ones below, give you different shades of orange, pink, blue, yellow and white to give you a vibrant outcome that absolutely reflects your days in the summer.

The tote with double handles (above) is a perfect illustration of what I'm talking about. Perfect for the summer, you'll definitely have what you need right by your side. Although, I am unsure about what the weight of it would be like. I've had one of those before and I can assure you it isn't one of the lightest bags I've had.

The ones below, however, are a much safer bet. With bright colored signature prints showing off itself in the netted carrier, you're sure to like this one. Although unique, you'd wanna think about how you're gonna find your stuff in a bag like that. Lol!

Oh, did I forget to mention that handles are the colors on Nemo? Or would it be more precise to say it looks more like an Apricot Orange Pueblan Milk snake?

Moving on, there is the oval framed sling which, well, I feel, doesn't stand out in a crowd of colorful totes.

Next up.. One of my favorites from the collection. Isn't it divine?

And the pochette.. It resembles a honey comb! How cute!

Last but not least, the framed clutch. Very oriental!

Dolce & Gabbana S/S '09

I love pictures. Lots of them. And I know our readers do too. And I'm proud to present you with a wide range of bags from Dolce for Spring! Not to mention, you're in for a lovely surprise ;)

If you're liking embellishments, well, this is it, really! Every single piece has been jazzed up to give you one of the best collections for the season (in my opinion).

This Spring introduces the collection "Pigiama Barocco" - a collection where Dolce "literally shone, loaded with sequined embroideries and gold chains (a smart proposition for toting a purse as a piece of jewelry)", says Style magazine writer, Sarah Mower.

By now, I'm sure you would've noticed that most of the collection are made up of shoulder bags. Oversized ones, to be specific!

The embellishments are so colorful and full of flavor, with all the different types being introduced into the collection. Even the shoulder straps are different for each piece - some plainer and others, well, more hip and happening. However, I'd like to point out the ones with beads - the multiple straps put together - well, that one's gonna be a bit of a problem. Reason being.. they'd probably get tangled up easily and I so wonder how they're gonna sit on the shoulders - especially for those who have drop shoulders (like mine!). I've owned one of those before and they're extremely uncomfortable. So if you ever think of getting those, make sure you put something in it to carry and test it out before you actually purchase it or it's gonna be a white elephant sitting in the corner of your closet. What a waste that'd be!

Anyway, I'd like to talk about this greyish shoulder bag right below. Sorta reminds me of the Fendi "dead bird" they killed which Bagaholic Babe posted about many seasons back! Don't you agree with me it looks pretty similar, Bagaholic Babe? Haha ;)

Am really liking the one below. Simple (looks like suede to me) yet hip because of the straps. Not over the top. Goes well with just about anything!

Here comes the chunkier embellishments..

Am loving the straps on the bag above. The embellishments, however, aren't too appealing. Looks like those mosaic tiles they have in the toilets of modern homes nowadays. In fact, if it got any bigger, it'd look like mahjong tiles! And funnily enough, somehow, the bag looks very.. oriental. Hmmm.. could it be because of what the model's wearing? I don't know!

But the one below, I'd say is very ethnic. Not very me!

This one below's really plain, don't you think? Think it'll go well with bright colored prints - just like the one you see in the picture!

Hmmm.. very funky, very funky indeed. Love the flower!

And this one.. It's one of my favorites! Pretty, not over the top and roomy!

Oh dear, talk about being LOUD! Think it's for one of those hip and happening nights out on the town - painting it RED! But with those straps? ... I don't know!

First look at the one above.. it reminded me of a pet carrier! Lol..

Last but not least, my favorite from the entire collection..

A couple of days ago, I posted Marc Jacobs' main line. Today, its is other, more affordable line. Usually we see some similarities between the 2, but this season, its totally different. We see his signature monogram bags (that constantly appears every season in his Marc by MJ line), his utility bags, and of course, his signature 'Miss Marc' range that shows this character in different personalties and 'jobs' every season.

Here's his range of utility bags which are more practical. Btw, wouldn't you agree that It's been ages since we've seen the backpack grace the runways?

And here's what Bagaholic Babe looks forward to every collection - his 'Miss Marc' bags! I just adore Miss Marc, she's such a cutie! Come S/S, we see this character in a tank and heart-shaped sunglasses...

The Verdict: Bagaholic Babe loves the Miss Marc bags, especially in those unusual shapes! As for the rest, it ain't really my style...

Presenting: Miu Miu S/S 09 Collection

Presenting: Miu Miu S/S 09 Collection

This coming Spring-Summer, Miu Miu's collection consists primarily of Exotics, particularly Python (though we still see some in leather). Miu Miu, a brand that is known for its usually roomy bags (think Matelasse, Coffer, and all the rest) has turned that philosopphy around, as this season, we see bags which are much smaller in sizes, those of which can be slung in your arm and not on your shoulder. In other words, arm candy. We also see much simpler shapes this season, like the bowler and boston bag.

This bag below, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, looks like it can be worn as a bra, if flipped the other side up... Lol... That was basically the first thing that came to mind when I saw this particular bag..... BUT I love the contrasting Red python border against the white though! It just pops!

Presenting: Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Collection

Presenting: Marc Jacobs S/S 09 Collection

"Born To Be Wild" or "Out of Africa" best describes MJ's collection for S/S 09. Not only do we see LOTS of exotic prints and animal prints, but also wildly mismatched colours!! Besides that, MJ's underlying philosophies in creating this collection, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, are contrast, textures, and colours. The key shape of the season also seems to be the messenger as well as smaller-sized shoulder slung bags.

Get ready as Marc Jacobs has unleashes the Exotic kingdom unto us, often with a few of them exploding onto just a SINGLE bag!! The key detail of his collection seems to be padlocks and tassles.

I like the this one though... love the touch of red!

Here, he adds on to his current collection of Quilted bags, are some in messenger style, with padlock and exotic (lizard) skin detailing. A new element to the quilted range would be the ones with sequin details

The Verdict: Well, in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, MJ is trying to do too much with this collection! There really isn't a thread that binds the collection together as a WHOLE.

The quilted bags are more classic looking, whilst the ones with sequin details and rope straps may add a touch of glam and sparkle to your outfit.

The multi-flapped bags with contrasted textures and exotic skins with exotic skinned tassels all in one just prove to be too much for my liking! I mean, pony hair + lizard skin + python + suede + leather all in ONE bag?! It may be fine if it's in one colour, but all those details and textures PLUS contrasting colours and tassels all in ONE bag is just well, an eyesore. One really doesn't know where to look and what to focus on when you lay your eyes upon it because there is just TOO MUCH going on! However, one thing I do not doubt with all the exotic combinations is well.... the price tag, of course! Just using one type of exotic skin already costs a bomb... imagine the use of 3-4 AT ONCE..!

Presenting: Prada S/S '09 Collection

Presenting: Prada's S/S 09 Collection

Miuccia Prada promised us a simple back-to-basics collection, and simple, it is.

The Verdict: This collection is a tad too simple for my liking. With the use of solid, earthy tones, this collection doesn't really feel like a Spring-Summer collection at all, but more like Fall-Winter. Hm...This season's collection is very basic, with crinkles, creases and drawstrings as its theme. Exotics such as python are used here and there, but the shapes of the bags seem to be identical, regardless of the materials used. Bagaholic Babe, a lover of bright colours feels that it's a tad too plain and not summery enough. I used to be a fan of Prada, but with last F/W and this coming S/S collection, I might change my mind soon...

Presenting: Louis Vuitton S/S' 09 Collection

Presenting: Louis Vuitton's S/S '09 Collection

This coming Spring-Summer, we see lots of metallics, iridescent fabrics, embossed monograms and African-esque detailing from the House of Vuitton.

The Verdict: The handbag shape of the season for Vuitton seems to be the Hobo and the oversized clutch. We also see the denim range taking on a new multicoloured monogram created by coloured threads that are embroidered on the monogram. Perhaps LV is adding a new multicolour denim line to their ever-expanding collections? Hmm...

Lots of iridescent fabrics in metallic shades are used with the monogram - the monogram is often iridescent too! The African-esque vibe is obvious in the bead and tassle detailing on ALL the bags. The animal print, too adds to this African tribal feel.

Bagaholic Babe isn't really a fan of this collection, though she likes the interesting colour combination of colours on the oversized clutches with embroidered monogram embossed.

Fendi S/S '09

The moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived *grins*

Yes, yes, we're posting about Fendi today!

As always, Karl Lagerfeld never fails to make a fashion statement with his bags. This Spring, we're looking at what makes real news on the fashion scene - the "kangaroo pouch" that looks rather similar to the Hermès Birkin, but with one side draped open.

With lots of colors and patterns to choose from, you'll definitely what something you like in the collection.

Didn't think very much of this first one at the beginning.. But I suppose this is just one of those that grows on you over time. I initially thought it looked like one of those Mrs Doubtfire or Old Mother Hubbard would lug around. But after looking at it more closely, I thought to myself, 'Hey, that doesn't look all that bad. In fact, if you look closely, the side that's draped open has holes in it you can see the blue python lining on the inside! How cool!"

Then, I saw the patent one below and fell head over heels. Extremely slick and goes well with just about anything! Perfect, just perfect!

But.. that wasn't until I saw this python one *sulks* How am I going to decide between the cool one, the really slick one that goes well with everything in my closet and the one that's sure to make a fashion statement (this python one below)? Choices, choices, choices!

OooOoohh.. another one that caught my eye! And it comes with gold hardware too! Did I mention to you about my obsession with bags that comes with gold hardware? *grins* Okay okay, enough already!

We now move on to the other bags in the collection. First up, looks like an ethnic embroidered shoulder bag with leather on the sides. A great fashion item with jeans..

And, the next one.. the world's greatest disaster! Enough said. Take a look at it for yourself!

Then, of course, there are the clutches. No runway show is complete without 'em.

First up, the python clutch with Fendi's signature closure. Very much the usual kinda stuff..

And then, we have the new additions.. the perforated ones.. Which I've come to learn, by talking to lots of people.. That not many fancy bare bags. They say it leaves little imagination to those looking on *laughs*

Anyway, with those, you'd wanna be very careful about leaving scratch marks on them.. let alone, stuffing small and unsightly things such as tissue paper or tampons. Oh no!

And.. *looks at the clutch below*.. one second after that.. *takes a second look* Oh dear! Yet another disaster!

But to do the design justice, I'd say, it can look pretty nice. Maybe with an LBD perhaps.. but NEVER NEVER NEVER with something so flowery on the dress. It'd be WAYYYYYYYY to much!

Lookout for everything bright and bejeweled this coming Spring as Lacroix has a collection of clutches that comes with lots of fine details. With colors ranging from black, earthy tones like beige and browns to bright yellow, you'll definitely be on the spotlight for the evening.

Am loving this simple beige clutch with sequin details. Simple yet elegant. Just the thing to go with an LBD. As for the one right below, well, think it reminds me of those one dollar coins we used to have here in Malaysia. Not very nice..

Think the one above's really pretty as well with the big flower on it. Very pretty. Very pretty indeed. Definitely gonna make a fashion statement with this one!

And of course, oddly enough, a wicker basket with leather handles. Talk about it sticking it out like a sore thumb!

Chloe S/S '09

If in the past, you've had your eyes on the Paddington as well as the other wonderful designs they've come up with, you'll be glad to know we're posting on Chloe today.

In the coming springtime, expect color-blocked bags with gilt frames and chains. Hannah MacGibbon aims to "cleanse the palate" and de-complicate fashion for young women in her very first collection this Spring.

Expect to see a new Chloe very soon as the designer is at work in realigning the Chloe brand identity.

Like what you see? Am definitely liking the shape of the tote in the second picture. Gives me lots of space to store my stuff so I'll never leave anything behind when I'm out. Although.. I'd really think it over before purchasing something like that as it's nothing really to shout about. As for the aubergine shoulder bag with chain straps.. It reminds me of what grandma would carry in the olden days!

Chanel S/S '09

Readers,

Be surprised at what you're gonna find in Chanel boutiques this coming Spring. Be very surprised because I'm pretty it'll shock you.

The theme this Spring was inspired by a grayish portrait by Marie Laurencin, who painted Coco Chanel in the twenties. The show started with pretty nice 2.55 bags in tweed. Looking for elegant than ever are the models strutting down the runway with such beautiful pieces. Am loving the white and grey piece, by the way ;)

But then, look at what cane down the runway after..

Definitely not very wise turning the 2.55 and carrying it lengthwise. How does the bag even function that way.. Ewww! I'm a HUGE fan of Chanel's! Yet, I've to say it was a bad bad idea. Love the white leather 2.55. Simply gorgeous! But turning it around and carrying it this way? Karl Lagerfeld must've run out of ideas somehow!

By now, you must've guessed that the collection is very much black and white. Great choice but look at what other disasters they made!!

They can't have believed that they'd fool us to think those are pretty. Whether it's made of leather or plastic, they can't fool us into believing carrying THESE are arm candies! I suppose they were thinking.. 'Since our customers can't come into the store daily to buy something, let's make them look and feel great carrying our bags around daily'. Not to mention, Karl's not very imaginative this season..

What an eyesore!

Thankfully, towards the end of the collection, it got better! It's nothing to shout about really but at least.. It's FAR improved than what we just saw. Don't you agree?

The bag styles tend to be repeated - just like the ones above. The only difference is in the switching of colors. A no brainer!

Anyway, I'm counting my blessings cause it ended well. If it didn't, I'd stop paying attention to what they're coming up with in the future.

Thankfully, their evening wear was accompanied by beautiful clutches with detailing that left the viewer wanting more.

The collection is overall a very horrific experience. Definitely, Karl'll need to work on what's good and what's not!

Christian Dior S/S '09

Looks like loads of designers are moving backwards - coming up with smokin' hot collections that reflect the 1980's. According to reliable sources, many do not think well of this incoming collection by Dior and I guess it doesn't help not having enough pictures to do them justice should they be wrongly perceived. Sorry guys for the lack of pics!

Christian Dior S/S '09 Video Review

So what d'ya think? So says Galliano, this Spring, Dior is introducing lots of texture into their collection. This includes perforated and studded leather as well as mosaic looking designs on the front.

My verdict: an absolutely boring collection with too many different textures combined. The colors are dull, the design looks horrid. I wouldn't recommend any of those for this season. Too pricy for such a bag like this. It doesn't make sense to spend so much for such a horrid looking thing.

P/S: Am so in loveeee with their evening gowns!

Burberry Prorsum S/S '09

On Burberry Prorsum this Spring..

A collection inspired by Christopher Bailey's very own garden in Yorkshire as well as a book on eccentric Brits by Thames and Hudson called the 'Garden People'. Absolutely everything, including shoppers, shoulder bags and clutches have a hint of of mud covering them. As such, tints of ochers, browns and mossy greens have been introduced into the fabrics and leather to look as if its been in the rain.

Take a look for yourself!

The canvas bags below help give one a rugged look.. Looks good but it looks as if it could hurt brushing against the skin.

I'm absolutely in love with this exotic leather pieace below. Extremely soft, with different shades of brown treated on the leather to give it a real summery feel!

Another one of my favorites from the collection.. Very unique detailing all round the bag. The color's rarely seen as well. Think they'd look really good with jeans. I know some of you may think they look like fish scales and I do quite agree. But after seeing it a few times, it gets more soothing to the eye. I think this is one of those where 'the more you see, the more you love it!'

And for clutches, they've got..

What's with this clutch anyway? It certainly doesn't go with any evening wear! I can't imagine using it during the day either. Imagine going shopping with it. A terrible no no!

Bottega Veneta S/S '09

Out are the times where people make purchases for seasonal items. Instead, the majority of them seek classic/evergreen items they can collect and wear over the years. And thanks to high fashion and luxurious labels, you'll never have to throw out your newly purchased bag because the zipper's out of order - although you've only really made use of it for 3 months!

This coming Spring, you're looking at luxury in muted browns. Bottega Veneta, well known for its woven bags, shocks us again this season with an extensive range of bags, purses and clutches in caramel right through to dark saffron, copper and chestnut. Check them out below..

An AMAZING collection, wouldn't you agree? Lots of hardwork and dedication was required to bring about such a fine collection - even right down to the intricate details. Fabric treatments and handcrafted leathers were not overlooked as it was necessary to give you all the vibrant summery, earth tones you have today in this collection.

I personally recommend the half woven, half tarnished copper shopper hobo as well as the shopper as they're hot from the oven! I believe they look great with just about anything, they're roomy and not to mention, great arm candy as well! ;)

3.1 Phillip Lim S/S '09

Fashion Week is on again and we're back with more reviews on the latest in the fashion industry.

First up, we've got 3.1 Phillip Lim with polka dots! As always, expect to see lots of earth tones - whether it's on garments, shoes or even bags. With a weather like that, what could you expect but lots of beiges, greys and browns!

Polka dots seem to "the thing" right now with Phillip Lim and they're coming in shoppers, totes and even slings!

And guess what, they've even got a lil something for the guys!

Looks like they've now blown up the envelope clutch to make it big enough to fit in documents. Thumbs up for the guys!

As for the bags, well, think they aren't anything to shout about. Doesn't have the WOW factor in it but heck, if it's for you, I'd say.. Go for it! But it looks as if you'll have to wait for them to get on the shelf. And while waiting, why not keep an open eye to see what's on tomorrow?

Tote bags have long provided a portable canvas for art masterpiece lookalikes. But leave it to Mulberry to consign wan reproductions to museum gift shops and make the bags themselves into works of art worthy of display in its New Bond Street flagship store windows. By teaming up with London’s tastemaker FRED gallery, Mulberry has, er, bagged artists Peter Jones (pictured), Kate Davis, Simon English, and Paul Hosking for exclusive limited-edition totes. English, whose saucy, pink-patterned “Maxim-meow” bag will be showcased at Mulberry from today, designed his tote as a an homage to Daphne du Maurier’s gothic romance Rebecca. “I always thought of Mulberry as being synonymous with the nautical headscarves sported in the shires of my youth,” he confessed. “I am clearly wrong. The Mulberry of today is very different.” And thanks to Mulberry and FRED, so is the tote.

Newsflash: Louis Vuitton Limited Edition Damier 'Neverfull' Bag

Dear Bag Addicts,

As you probably already know, there are a few Limited Editions of the 'Neverfull' bag. First, there was the Limited Edition Murakami Neverfull that was available only at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Los Angeles from Oct 2007 to Feb 2008, and the Limited Edition Neverfull in Crocodile Skin a few months ago. Now, there's a Limited Edition 'Neverfull' bag in Damier Canvas available, but only in Hawaii and Japan. However, those of you in other parts of the world, fret not! You too can get a Limited Edition Neverfull in Damier! Reliable sources have told us that a Limited Edition 'Neverfull' in Damier Azur will be released in early 2009. And yes, it will be available in Malaysia too! I don't know whether they're putting people on the waitlist over here already, but maybe you could enquire at a Louis Vuitton boutique and give it a shot if you're interested.

As the name suggested, the exterior is covered with carefully stitched panels of calfskin that form an armor-inspired silhoutte (although I feel it reminds me of the signature boat they always place in the tourism advertisements for Hong Kong). Their signature black and red ring accents are also part of the bag and opens at the (zip) top with their signature pull.

It's been a while since envelope clutches became popular among the designers and we're out again with one - direct from the runway - by 3.1 Phillip Lim.

A smooth grained lambskin with siny finish, both clutches come with contrast topstitching, diagonal seam across the corners (back and front) with a black leather patches and leather covered rhinestone embellishments decorated on one side.

Opened at the top with double zippers, the clutch is definitely top notch when it comes to quality (even right down to the fine textile lining) but the colors are dull, the design proved no flair for art/design/experience was needed to create such a.. Anyway, the use of lambskin, embellishments to create an envelope clutch for the runway was great but when put together, it's all wrong! And I'm pretty sure it had to do with taste!

One of my favorites from the Christian Dior label, the Samouri Shopper is our pick of the week for a splurge!

Dior Samouri Shopper

A pretty in pink (well, to be exact, the color is fushcia) shopper, the Samouri has a very Asian feel to it. The woven leather reminds of the weaving we see a lot in Malaysian handicraft but of course, this is weaving at its best and the top handles come with tortoise shell rings and serpents too. Am definitely loving the tortoise shell rings but am not too sure about the serpents. Also included is a Louis XVI picture frame tag with the Dior logo.
